Susan Dey from The Partridge Family was considered for the lead actress role that went to Meryl Streep. At least I assumed it was lead actress since first seeing the movie, just found out she won in the supporting actress categories instead. Also found out Dustin Hoffman was quite abusive to Streep on set. :( This site doesn't make a distinction between turning down a role and being considered for it.

Ya thats a g00d movie!!!!!Definitely. But would it still have been a good movie with Susan Dey instead of Meryl Streep? Probably not.

I love that movie. I must have seen it close to ten times.
