I had the pleasure of seeing Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull at a midnight screening tonight - thanks to my roommate who had the brains to score tickets early Wednesday afternoon..

In a word: outstanding!

It's a homerun. A smash. A great film adventure.

They nailed it.

Kudos to Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Harrison Ford for bringing Indy back on the big screen after a 19 year hiatus in a wonderful slam bang film that is just as entertaining, funny and exciting as the previous Indiana Jones movies.

Please, go see this film. You guys know i don't heap praise on a lot of movies... let's face it, ANY movie, but this one will not dissappoint.

I want to hear from all you Indy fans who are going to see this film over the weekend.

You have no idea how happy I am to have an Indiana Jones movie in theaters again.

I absolutely, unquestionably, want to see this movie. I usually only see 2-3 movies in theaters per year.

The movie rocked. I'm a huge Indy fan and I absolutely loved the movie. It was super entertaining and the action sequences were absolutely on point. The movie definitely does justice to Indy legacy!

A number of members of the Communist Party in Russia are asking its citizens to boycott the new Indiana Jones movie, as they say it's a historical distortion, and puts communist ideology in a bad light. Ease up guys, it's Hollywood, you can't expect truth from there.

The setting for the new Indiana Jones movie is a battle between Indiana Jones and a dastardly KGB agent played by Cate Blanchett.

One Russian Communist Party politician, Andrei Anreyev, said "it is very disturbing if talented directors want to provoke a new Cold War."

Talk about taking things too seriously. It's just a movie.




Thinking some may take the film as historical truth, some Communist Party members let it be known on a Web site that the former Soviet Union "did not send terrorists to the States" in 1957. Good thing they corrected us on that.

Of course what they've probably done have ensured that it will get a good showing in Russia, by doing the one thing that will just about guarantee it: telling everyone not to go see it. It's premiered in Russia on Thursday.

Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom would probably get tons of flack if it was released in this time: India would be up in arms about a movie that depicts thier citizens as blood thirsty savages who rip out people's hearts.

Definitely the best Indiana Jones movie since Raiders of the Lost Ark. Nice to see Karen Allen again. This one had a lot more CGI than the others. There were some great chase scenes like the one on the campus.

Yes, my Dad is not much older that Harrison Ford, yet he still managed to do so many amazing stunts.

I know there was a lot more CGI stuff compared to the previous films; the whole jungle car chase was totally CG; but when you think about it, to stage a sequence like that on location would cost tons of money and take weeks to film; I applaud that they made it look so darn real!

i am hopefully going to see the new indy movie this week after finals! i've heard a lot of good reviews about it, so i'm sure i will not be disappointed.

I think he did a good job in Crystal Skull. He held his own with Harrison Ford.

he was in both disturbia & transformers last year. he was really good, especially in disturbia. he's come a long way from even stevens. but i was curious to see how he & harrison ford meshed together as well.

Indiana Jones unearthed box office gold at domestic theaters with a performance that puts the film on track to become the second biggest Memorial Day movie opening ever, according to studio estimates Sunday.

The fourth installment of the whip-cracking professor's exploits, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," grossed an estimated $101 million from Friday to Sunday, plus $25 million from its opening Thursday, distributor Paramount Pictures said. The company expects it to earn another $25 million on Monday.

That would put it behind only "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," which had a Friday-through-Monday total of $139.8 million, in the pantheon of Memorial Day weekend blockbusters.

Including Thursday's receipts, "Indiana Jones" was expected to collect $151 million over five days, slightly behind "Pirates," which took in $153 million with a partial Thursday included.

"'Indiana Jones' did incredibly well for a film that comes 19 years after the previous installment," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of tracking firm Media By Numbers LLC.

The adventure flick received a lackluster reception from critics at the Cannes Film Festival, but audiences thought otherwise.

Box office estimates grew from $25 million on its opening Thursday through $37 million on Saturday, suggesting strong word of mouth, Dergarabedian said.

"This is the definition of a summer movie from two of the architects of the summer movie season George Lucas and Steven Spielberg," he said. "These guys have it down to a science and audiences want to go along for that ride."

The first three Indy movies took in $1.2 billion worldwide.

Disney's action sequel, "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian," slipped to second place with $23 million, for a total of $91.1 million over two weeks. The company expected the movie to continue to play well as school lets out.

"Once you start getting the mass number of kids out of school, it turns into some serious money," said Chuck Viane, president of distribution for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

Marvel Studios' "Iron Man" clinched another $20.1 million, bringing its domestic total to $252.3 million. A sequel is set for release in 2010.

The 20th Century Fox comedy, "What Happens in Vegas," continued to roll with $9 million in its third week, for a total of $54.2 million.

Fox senior vice president Bert Livingstone said high gas prices were encouraging people to see movies rather than take long trips away from home.

"This is the last great bargain," Livingstone said.

But movie receipts were about 16 percent smaller than last year's Memorial Day weekend, and revenue for the year to date is down nearly 4 percent at $3.3 billion, with attendance off nearly 7 percent.

By this time last year, there were seven movies that grossed over $100 million: "Pirates," "Shrek the Third," "Spider-Man 3," "300," "Wild Hogs," "Blades of Glory" and "Ghost Rider," according to Media By Numbers. This year, there are only three: "Iron Man," "Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who!" and "Indiana Jones."

"It's no wonder that we're down in terms of revenues and attendance," Dergarabedian said. "You don't get out of a deficit like this overnight."

I saw it Saturday afternoon with my brothers two children and his friend's grandmother. It was fantastic! I loved it! You have NO idea how thrilled I am that Karen Allen was back in her role as Marion Ravenwood! She is definately the #1 Indy girl, lol.

Shia is two years younger than me and Harrison is four months younger than my father. That's pretty cool.

The chase scenes were awesome and so was the three-drop waterfall scene! LOL ;) So... cool! Especially in the theatre! I also enjoyed the quicksand and inside the jeep moments. The whole thing was fantastic!

I could have delt w/o so much Sci-Fi though. I mean I like sceience fiction but it just seemed different in a since for Indy-Jones. Was reminding me of The X-Files. I guess it's "todays" Sci-Fi that I sometimes could live without. I didn't mind SS 'space' stuff back in the 70s. Like Close Encounters. Today its more "graphic", if that makes any sense?

But I really can't wait 'til it comes out on DVD! :D

Wow, I didn't think that movie had a chance of being good.

I thought it was going to turn out like Rocky did...a bad remake of a classic movie to try to capture the old magic....but fails miserably.

That quicksand scene was my favorite part of the movie. When Indy was given that snake. I almost fell out of my chair. :lol:

I agree with the whole sci-fi thing. I mean there's already an X-Files movie coming out, don't over do the whole alien thing. But I did like how they tied the alien thing into the whole Roswell thing. Even if I wasn't so hot on the alien thing, the overall movie was good and didn't rely too heavily on the whole alien aspect.

The sci fi elements of the movie is something that many have had a problem with.

Some folks who have posted reviews on Facebook said the whole alien plotline made the film "unbelievable."

Okay, so in Temple Of Doom when Mola Ram ripped a guy's heart out and the guy was still alive - that was something you could believe? ;)

As one reviewer has pointed out, a lot of movies in the last several years (The Mummy, Pirates Of The Caribbean, National Treasure) have picked clean some of the best "hunt for cool stuff" storylines, so treasure from another planet seems like an adventure Dr. Jones could tackle.

Besides, Indy has always been interested in exploring the unknown, on this planet or elsewhere.

The one thing i loved about the story is that it mentioned to all the amazing stuff Indiana Jones has done outside his movie adventures (Roswell, WWII spy adventures) and Indy's little aside that he rode with Poncho Villa was a sly homage to the "Young Indiana Jones" series when a teenage Indy rubbed elbows with tons of historical figures.

Indy will always be a hero, no matter what decade you put him in.

I think the script could have used a few more rewrites and the characters needed further development, but overall I thought it was an exciting movie. Great action scenes.

I told someone last night that I have to give Mr. Speilberg credit for not making his alien stuff as graphic as, oh.. Mr. Carter [XF], LOL. No offense to him.

But SS has never really done his sci-fi stuff as intense. Least what I have seen.

I'm glad for that.
