wow and ALN wins worst schedule makeover.

I was always sad that we didn't get ALN but now I don't care anymore

And I was mad at Charter for not having it

I have no need to ever want to get or watch ALN now. No wonder nobody carries them hardly.

I wanted ALN when they had Lou Grant, WKRP, Mary Tyler Moore, and the Newhart shows. Not any more, it's amazing how fast they've gone downhill. :(

It looks like the new owners want them to focus more on lifestyle/reality/how-to shows than sitcoms and dramas.

I agree. I used to want my cable company (Comcast) to carry it, but there's no point now. If I want to see court shows or lifestyle shows, then I'll turn on one of my local channels.

I wish Dish network had this channel. I'd love to see a couple of the shows they are offering. They can keep the Judge shows.

When does Beachcombers currently air since it isn't on your list of what's new? I have Merv Griffins' Crosswords following Flipper currently and that isn't on the "what's gone" list...thanks....

Absoultely terrible news. I don't get this channel now but when I did, I loved that there was LA Law, Hill Street Blues, and St Elsewhere all unedited in one place. So much for all of that, what a letdown. I really wish there was some way to see LA Law now, it seems like it's never coming out on DVD.

Sorry, Beachcombers starts on Sept. 1 at 4:30pm. Crosswords will remain on FamilyNet.

I think Charter has it but you have to get a hd package which is more expensive in order to get it. The only things I see on there old shows wise is Flipper and the Fall Guy. No wonder Directv doesn't have it. I would like it to see Flipper if it's the 60's one. The good ones always go down...

Flipper is the '60s one. New Flipper airs on sister network FamilyNet.

Charter does have it in their "Digital View" package, a step up...I just have exp. basic digital, not any of the extra stuff, so I never would have known as I never check their other offerings. I also watch TV a lot at a house with Dish, and they don't carry it as mentioned. What is this network's problems with coverage? Availability on major system has been a problem since they started years ago. What's kept the cable/satellite providers, who can add any other channel, from adding this one? I'll admit, I wouldn't care to get it now, but it's just strange. Do any other major providers besides Charter offer it?

LOL DuMont...

Thanks Pav....assuming I am correct, since it is a half hour slot, it is the 1962 one season series and not the canadian longest running one hour drama...lol...Beachcombers hasn't aired anywhere in over 30+ years? So it should be a interesting watch, but with less than 40 episodes produced, how long will it last as a daily? Funny when they had series that lasted many seasons, they would run them once a week, now they run a one season show daily......as for the predictions of their demise, anything can happen...I still can't believe Disney/ABC is pulling the plug on SoapNet...(how could that not be profitable?) especially for another third or fourth disney owned kids channel. But I am getting myself off-topic.....

History Lesson for some: AmericanLife goes back to the mid 1980's when it debuted as "The Nostalgia Channel" and the only program from those years that still is part of AmericanLife are the occassional latenite airings of the one season 50's sitcom with Francis Bavier "It's A Great Life", because they own the copyright and it still reads that way today when aired with new text (c) The Nostalgia Channel.

It actually is the Canadian drama that ran from 1972-1990. That was also 30 minutes.

yeesh! Read somewhere that was an hour for its entire run....thought people would have been making a bigger deal out of the announcement if it were the 1962 series.....oh well.....so far the only thing I am semi-excited about is the Discovery kids channel (can't remember new odd silly name) and seeing Doogie & Wonder Years again......any word yet on the third??? probably growing pains, step by step or family matters? We Need "Life Goes On" to return and I think it would be a perfect good clean family addition and I know you would agree!

Yes, The Hub seems promising. No word yet on the third series. I am guessing Step by Step or something. Life Goes On would be so cool, but I don't think it will happen, sadly.

No need for me to tune into ALN as of October. You would think they would have learned from Nik at Nite and TVLand - when you change the 'oldies' to more new stuff, the audience goes elsewhere.

I know they used to show The Honeymooners, but it's always just been a hodge-podge I think until they added more classics a while back.

I don't see how ALN or FamilyNet will last. Bad programming + low availability = eventual failure.

Good news! The Fall Guy is having some music issues, so they are pulling it. 4 sitcoms will join the schedule as a result. They will announce soon, so stay with us!

20th Century Fox is not letting them replace Fall Guy with these sitcoms, so ALN will just keep Sue Thomas F.B.eye at 7pm and 10pm.

It's unusual that a studio is participating in programming decisions for a network, unless ALN have sub-contracted the time over to 20th Television.

Why is a show like Fall Guy all of a sudden having music issues? I can understand if the show was attempting a DVD release, but for syndicated reruns??

Not sure. I guess ALN didn't want to pay for it? I think they are trying to get Boston Public now instead, but they are keeping Sue Thomas on the schedule for now.
