On July 17, I was on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. I cruised right through the first 10 question without burning a lifeline. For 64K, the question was: "On the TV series Gilligan's Island, what was the real name of the character known as the skipper?"

I wasn't sure if they meant actor or character. Later, I remembered the question as actor, and remembered myself not knowing Alan Hale. But -- they wanted the character's name. Under the pressure of the hotseat, I went with the audience and picked Winston Gilroy. Their second pick was the right one -- Jonas Grumby.

If I'd stopped to think it through, I would've known it couldnt've been Gilroy -- too close to Gilligan and also Winston/Thurston. Someone told me Jonas Grumby was only mentioned a few times on the whole series.

I went home with 32K -- still a great sum of cash. But in the end, I was foiled by the Skipper! Did anyone see me up there?

Yes I was watching when the Skipper foiled you. I was trying to stay in my seat as you answered that question. If I were to get on a quiz show, I hope I would be as fortunate to get questions related to GI.

Picture this------->
Horzverti: '...yes Mr. Trebek, I'll take Gilligan's Island for $300 please'
Mr. Trebek: 'Answer---Gilligan's oft referred to best friend.'
Horzverti: 'Who is Skinny Mulligan?...
Mr. Trbek: 'Correct, choose a category?'
Horz: 'Gilligan's Island for $400 please'
Mr. Trebek; 'It is the Daily Double!! How much do you wish to wager?'
Horz: 'I'll wager everything Alex!'
Mr. Trebek: 'OK, here is the answer...Mary Ann's hometown is this.
Horz: 'What is Winfield, KS?'
Mr. Trebek: 'Correct for $10500..but I am afraid that we are out of time in round three...Horzverti you have amassed an outstanding $34500...on to Final Jeopardy...'

By the way....didn't you leave with 2 lifelines remaining? Stagefright I guess huh? Congrats on the $32g though!
