I am soo ready for 1897 to start! I like the storyline that leads to it so far, but I am really looking forward to 1897. I have heard so many good things about it. Anyone else awaiting the start of 1897? Only 23 more episodes until it starts!

I am. I love the time traveling in the show. After watching the movies and everything that is happening now, I love this show!! I can't wait until the Levithan Storyline starts. It was the first episodes of DS I ever saw. Curious, what were your first episodes you ever saw?

My first episode had Julia and Barnabas killing one of the town doctors by lethal injections. It was a black and white kinescoped episode. It only had three of the DS regulars in it - David Ford, Jonathan Frid, and Grayson Hall. It took a while getting used to the show - at first I thought Carolyn was David's mother, Roger was Elizabeth's Lt. Uncle (cause the first episode I saw with him in it I thought he looked like one . . . don't know why).

How many episodes does the 1897 storyline have? Just curious, will it be like the 1795 storyline?

The 1897 storyline lasted around 175 episodes. It was the show's longest running storyline.

It's similar to 1795 in many aspects, the main one being Beth and Quentin. They are sorta the Josette & Barnabas of the storyline. The sideplots are very different though from 1795, they're more supernatural then the ones 1795 had.

175 episodes!!!!!! I'm glad theres more supernatural stuff in the 1897 storyline because thats what I'm into. I love witches, vampires, demons, ect. It's neat to see how some shows play the stuff out.

I can't believe it! When I saw the second episode of DS today Beth & Quentin talked!!!!!!! Do you know if Sci Fi has exclusive rights to DS? I was looking at Sci Fi's schedule and couldn't find that many listings for DS in November. Does Sci Fi change their schedule often?

Sci Fi has had exclusive airing rights to DS since it acquired the show in 1992. Sci Fi has been airing it at 10:00 AM for the last two years. DS is on Sci Fi in November every day for the first three weeks or so except for a "Star Trek" chain reaction. However, it is not airing at all the last week of November. The last week is just out of wack - no show is airing in it's regular time slot that week. It could possibly be that way all through December, who knows.

I LOVE THIS STORYLINE!!!!!!!!!!!! This is really turning out great! Quentin is now one of my favorite characters. I love Grayson Hall better as Magda. I can see now why this storyline lasted so long it's exciting. Theres just one thing I don't understand what does Quentin want with Jameson/David?

Jamison seems to be the only one in the family who likes Quentin. Quentin also seems to adore Jamison a lot.

But Judith doesn't like Quentin being around Jamison. Is he using Jamison for something?

So far Quentin has used Jamison to convince grandmama Edith to let him come back to Collinwood, so yeah he is.

Today's episodes were great! I'm sick today so I got to see it when Sci Fi airs it instead of in the afternoon on tape. I haven't seen it 'live' since August or so.

I'm looking forward to the next few episodes! Too bad Sci Fi is pre-empting it Wednesday-Friday next week :(

Oops I forgot that Friday is the first day of November, so nevermind lol. I was mistaken. I can't wait till Friday because Lara Parker's first 1897 episode airs that day.

Yes, it will air next Friday. The only time between now and December 1st that DS is being pre-empted is on October 30th & 31st, November 11th, and all of the last week of November.

Yep, Lara Parker returns with #711, which airs on November 1st at 10:30 AM. I'm not sure if Angelique knows about Barnabas being in 1897 but I think she does.

I wonder who told Edith about Barnabas. I thought he was the family secret.

I guess it must've been passed down from generation to generation. I don't really see a point in why they did that though. It's not like anyone in the family is gonna go down there and open it for no reason at all. But I guess it does serve a purpose. If Edith had told Edward in the original time, then Edward would've told Jamison and Jamison would've told Elizabeth so I guess it must've been added in at the very last moment.

Why did Barnabas ask Beth about a 3rd child from Fridays episode? I thought Jamison and Nora were the only children there.

Remember when Beth led Chris to a spot in the woods and Barnabas and Chris dug it up to find the coffin of a baby with a pentagram in it? Since neither Nora or Jamison are that young, Barnabas is assuming that there is a third child. That is also why he was thinking that the child must already be dead.
