ABC Renews "Celebrity Family Feud", "The $100,000 Pyramid", "Match Game" & "To Tell the Truth" - TCA
by Nellie Andreeva
August 4, 2016

ABC is sticking with its game show lineup.

The network has renewed "Celebrity Family Feud" for a third season, and picked up "$The 100,000 Pyramid", "Match Game" and "To Tell the Truth" for Season 2, ABC president of entertainment Channing Dungey announced at the top of the network’s TCA executive presentation.

"Celebrity Family Feud", hosted by Steve Harvey, was down in its Season 2 June premiere from its breakout debut last summer, but still has done solid business for ABC. Its season opener drew a 1.5 in 18-49s and 7.8 million, the second best result of the night, following "The $100,000 Pyramid", hosted by Michael Strahan.

It was the standout in its Season 1 premiere, with a 1.7 rating among adults 18-49 (Live+Same Day) and 8 million viewers.

"Match Game", from FremantleMedia North America and hosted by Alec Baldwin, started off with a 1.5 in 18-49s and 6.7 million viewers.

That was ABC’s largest summer audience in the time slot with regular programming in nearly 10 years and tied the highest young-adult number in four years – since August 20, 2006 and July 8, 2012, respectively.

"To Tell the Truth", hosted by Anthony Anderson, averaged 5.2 million total viewers and a 1.2/4 in adults 18-49 during its run. It improved its hour for ABC over "Extreme Weight Loss" during the comparable weeks last summer by 86% in total viewers and by 50% in Adults 18-49.

On its series premiere, "To Tell the Truth" delivered ABC’s best summertime numbers with series programming in the hour in 3 years with total viewers and in 2 years with adults 18-49 – since 5/28/13 and 6/24/14, respectively.

"Celebrity Family Feud", "Pyramid" and "Match Game" all air on Friday nights as part of ABC’s Fun and Games block.

"To Tell the Truth" airs on Tuesday nights.

Not good that 500 Questions isn't mentioned with the other game shows. It was fantastic, deserves to be on more than one week a year. :(

Does that mean they will air in the fall or wait till next year?

I hope the next Family Feud with celebrities has actual celebrities, like casts of television shows. I don't want to see some reality person and their family.

Sunday nights have perked up a bit with these game shows to watch.

However, I agree that I'd like to see more TV actors from comedies and dramas on the game shows.

"Match Game", "Celebrity Family Feud" and "$100,000 Pyramid" Renewed at ABC
by Matt Webb Mitovich
August 6, 2017

Appearing at the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Sunday, ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey announced that "Celebrity Family Feud" has been renewed for a fourth season, while "$100,000 Pyramid" and "Match Game" have each been picked up for Season 3.

Of ABC’s other “Fun & Games” entries, "To Tell the Truth" was previously renewed for Season 3 (to air this fall on Sundays at 8/7c, where it will lead into "Shark Tank" and then the Kyra Sedgwick-starring drama "Ten Days in the Valley"), while Steve Harvey’s "Funderdome" is currently unspooling its freshman run on Sunday nights.

"Match Game" host Alec Baldwin also has signed a two-year first-look deal with ABC Studios.

“Alec’s quick wit, charm and star power set the stage for an unadulterated and can’t-miss hour of television each week on Match Game,” Dungey said in a statement. “The series is an integral part of ABC ‘Fun & Games,’ and I’m glad to have it and Alec back.”

“Returning for Season 3 definitely goes under the category ‘Things that are Awesome,’” said "Pyramid" host Michael Strahan.

“It has been such an honor continuing the legacy of the legendary Dick Clark …. Looking forward to another season of giving away ABC’s money.”

Steve Harvey said the “politically correct” reason that "Feud" “struck a chord is because it’s a great show where people can play along at home and everyone can join in on the fun. The true reason it’s a success is because they went and got me to host. It’s been a blessing to host this show, I’m one of those people who loves what they’re doing.”

Out of the 3 shows, I only watch To Tell the Truth. The writers of the contestants avidavids( sp ) are very witty. On this show I do learned something. Last saw week saw the first african american woman pilot. Anthony tries to keep the show together although last episode he had a spat with his mother.
