View Full Version : Cloris Leachman Will Be In Dancing With the Stars catlover79 08-25-2008, 01:47 PM http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080825/ap_en_ot/tv_dancing_with_the_stars LauraNamesake 08-26-2008, 06:48 PM Wow. I don't watch shows like that, but that might worth being seen!!! (That didn't really make sense...the wording, but) JMFabiano524 08-26-2008, 09:43 PM Thought I saw an article that said they didn't want to use her, instead going with some celebrity with a heart condition (forget who). But this is good news. I don't really watch it, but hope our "Phyllis" does well! PGood97041 08-27-2008, 03:03 AM The way she used to flit around Mary's apartment, she probably had some dance training. I won't watch, but will be pulling for Cloris and hope somebody will keep us up to date. Speaking of Cloris, I heard somewhere that she was the star of a recent roast, taking some tough shots but giving a lot out, too. What a saucy lady! Anybody know anything about that? OMG, I just found out Cloris is 82...are we sure we want her doing this???? JMFabiano524 09-08-2008, 07:50 PM The way she used to flit around Mary's apartment, she probably had some dance training. Like on "Rhoda the Beautiful" (which I just watched). Hey, wasn't Valerie Harper on an earlier season of this show, or am I thinking of something else? catlover79 09-08-2008, 09:28 PM Like on "Rhoda the Beautiful" (which I just watched). Hey, wasn't Valerie Harper on an earlier season of this show, or am I thinking of something else? No, I don't think Valerie was ever on. JMFabiano524 09-08-2008, 10:58 PM No, I don't think Valerie was ever on. Weird, I could have sworn someone said she was. Or was it some other program? catlover79 09-08-2008, 11:24 PM ^ I DO know for sure that Valerie guested on the first season of the Muppet Show - and was hilarious! The first season is on DVD, as is the second season, which boasted both Cloris Leachman and Nancy Walker (Ida Morgenstern) as guests. LauraNamesake 09-09-2008, 04:18 PM I saw that episode with Valerie Harper on the Muppets on YouTube and it was REALLY good!! I liked that!! catlover79 09-09-2008, 04:21 PM I saw that episode with Valerie Harper on the Muppets on YouTube and it was REALLY good!! I liked that!! Yes, it's one of my faves, too. Indy788 09-22-2008, 10:51 PM Here's a video of Cloris on Dancing with the Stars if anyone missed it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Expz0VcG3CE JMFabiano524 09-22-2008, 11:42 PM Our "Phyllis" still has it! EDIT: Though, apparently, the judges' scores don't seem to indicate that. What I don't understand is that they seemed to have such glowing words about her just after the dance! (I have never really watched the program regularly, and didn't see the whole thing today. So I don't know if they're nicer before giving the scores in general) Hopefully she'll get enough viewer support, maybe from some of us MTM fans???? This might be the one DWTS I'm really interested in, Cloris of course, but I rather like Misty May as well, having watched the Olympics this past summer. PGood97041 09-23-2008, 02:28 AM I can't check out the video until I get into work tomorrow (I still don't have high speed internet), but I'd guess it's that she's 82 and just couldn't do as much as some of the other contestants. But God bless her for trying, and I'm sure the judges had that same feeling during their earlier comments! Indy788 09-23-2008, 10:30 AM Actually the judges gave pretty low scores to everyone and Cloris' score was pretty average. I think the lowest score was 11 or 12 and the highest score was 20 or 21. The first week most of the performances aren't that good because well...it's the first week. With the schtick after her dance, it'd be really surprised if Cloris was voted off. Pavan 09-23-2008, 10:43 AM The censors will be on alert at all times with Cloris. She is one controversial woman! Lowest score was 12 and highest was 23. Typical first week numbers. Good start for the show last night and the ratings were very good again. catlover79 09-23-2008, 01:43 PM Go Cloris!!!!! :D LauraNamesake 09-23-2008, 10:12 PM I am now officially going to watch the show until Cloris is voted off!! YOU GO GIRL!!!! If anyone derserves it, she does!! JMFabiano524 09-23-2008, 10:49 PM Anyone see tonight's performance? The wig she had on...doesn't it make her look...familiar? ;-) ;-) Indy788 09-23-2008, 11:18 PM Speaking of tonight's performance. Here's a video of it, if anyone missed it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zR8ybt82kJc PGood97041 09-24-2008, 02:37 AM I finally saw the video! She did great!!! Woot woot! You go, Cloris! Schmoopie 09-24-2008, 04:05 AM I couldn't really hear what the judges were saying but I'm sure by now a lot of people have read the other posts about Cloris on other parts of the board. That article really didn't make her look good. I read it before I saw this clip and I have to say that I think the article is way off base! And so are the judges. Give her a break! She's an actress! That's the whole point of the show! To have non-dancers/celebrites dancing! Andrea JMFabiano524 09-24-2008, 09:57 AM I couldn't really hear what the judges were saying but I'm sure by now a lot of people have read the other posts about Cloris on other parts of the board. That's the whole point of the show! To have non-dancers/celebrites dancing! Andrea I know what you mean. If the YouTube clip is the same one I was using, there were some comments that were down on her. I dunno, I guess that sort of thing tends to affect my thoughts a bit more than others, and thus serve as a killjoy to me. While otherwise, I've been very entertained by Cloris' appearances, of course! And as for her actual dancing, I can't complain...I didn't see anything glaring that made me think she was doing a bad job. honeybea 09-24-2008, 02:53 PM I think sh'es doing a great job to be 82 years old and I hope she stays aound for awhile. I just love seeing her and she's a very funny lady. catlover79 09-24-2008, 03:53 PM I think sh'es doing a great job to be 82 years old and I hope she stays aound for awhile. I just love seeing her and she's a very funny lady. :yeahthat LauraNamesake 09-24-2008, 05:54 PM EXACTLY!! I thought it was kinda not nice to give her a 16 last night because shes 82, and she did pretty good for being 82!! Plus, she's comedic relief. And she did pretty good with the mutiple shenae turns. She was a good spotter too. That's hard. GO CLORIS!!!!!! JMFabiano524 09-24-2008, 06:38 PM EXACTLY!! I thought it was kinda not nice to give her a 16 last night because shes 82, and she did pretty good for being 82!! Plus, she's comedic relief. And she did pretty good with the mutiple shenae turns. She was a good spotter too. That's hard. GO CLORIS!!!!!! Yeah. As I noted above, I get down when I read DWTS watchers' comments and them saying how Cloris takes away from the show and how she's annoying, etc. etc. I've had lots of fun seeing her on the program! And at least she's acting like that out of fun, and not for any other reasons like certain other stars have in recent years. We may have different opinions because I am not a religious DWTS fan though and don't have an idea of what the show is "supposed" to be. Am I wrong to root for Cloris and to be amused by her antics? Who knows??? Still I feel bad somehow when someone says something bad about someone or something I like. (It happened again this week with someone criticizing how Mary looked at the Emmys) But TV is supposed to be entertaining, and Cloris has been entertaining me a lot! So job done! Also, did anyone catch on to what I mentioned about her appearance on Tuesday? ;-) Indy788 09-29-2008, 11:46 PM Cloris on tonight's dancing with the stars: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwS47g3Eip0 I'm not sure why the judges voted them so low. I really liked that dance! JMFabiano524 09-29-2008, 11:49 PM I suspect Rhoda has a hand in it ;-) Seriously, I should be happy she is being more serious and dignified, but I was kind of sad she wasn't being wacky :-) :-) catlover79 10-04-2008, 12:53 PM I suspect Rhoda has a hand in it ;-) Seriously, I should be happy she is being more serious and dignified, but I was kind of sad she wasn't being wacky :-) :-) Yes, Rhoda was behind it!!!! :clap LauraNamesake 10-04-2008, 07:46 PM LOL THAT'S FUNNY!!!!!! sandra42 10-04-2008, 08:03 PM I love MTM She is a classy lady JMFabiano524 10-06-2008, 10:10 PM Well it looks like the guy's DWTS clips got pulled from YouTube, so I won't hold my breath waiting for the latest show's clips. I only saw the end with Cloris getting another 16 (and in a nice pink outfit AND another Phyllis-like extension) and the nice sendoff to Misty (sad about her injury). What did she do this week? :-) Indy788 10-06-2008, 10:36 PM Cloris and Corky did the Jive. It was hilarious. I'm not really sure how to describe it because it was crazy, but i'm sure it will end up on youtube or they'll show clips of it tomorrow. The judges were actually pretty nice to her in their comments, but that didn't really show in the score. Cloris got them back by asking why do the judges scores matter if the audience votes. I'm still hoping she'll be back next week. She's the only entertaining part of that show! Indy788 10-07-2008, 10:42 AM Here's Cloris' performance on DWTS if you missed it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHdMFS2uM7A sandra42 10-07-2008, 10:52 AM yes Cloris and Corky were funny. I would like to see them return for the enjoyment JMFabiano524 10-07-2008, 01:36 PM yes Cloris and Corky were funny. I would like to see them return for the enjoyment I want to know what Cloris did with the judges this time (when this video cuts out). Also, the wig incident made me think of an MTM-relevant question: did she wear wigs for her part as Phyllis? catlover79 10-07-2008, 04:41 PM I want to know what Cloris did with the judges this time (when this video cuts out). Also, the wig incident made me think of an MTM-relevant question: did she wear wigs for her part as Phyllis? Actually, I think that was her real hair (as Phyllis). Indy788 10-07-2008, 08:12 PM 12 minutes into the show and "Clorky" is safe! Hooray :D sandra42 10-07-2008, 08:16 PM yes she wore wigs on the MTM show too Indy788 10-13-2008, 08:52 PM Cloris' dancing tonight was AMAZING. She definitely proved the judges wrong with her ability. Her score was a 22 - quite a jump from last weeks 16. Hopefully a video will be posted soon for those who missed it. Vote for Clorky! JMFabiano524 10-14-2008, 12:16 AM Cloris' dancing tonight was AMAZING. She definitely proved the judges wrong with her ability. Her score was a 22 - quite a jump from last weeks 16. Hopefully a video will be posted soon for those who missed it. Vote for Clorky! Yes tell us when one appears! Indy788 10-14-2008, 01:14 AM There's one up already. It's terrible quality, but i suppose it's better than nothing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n84N0i9rdpA MTM fan - Holly 10-14-2008, 01:47 AM Thank you for posting the link. I was unable to watch when the show was on. She is great! Indy788 10-14-2008, 10:00 PM Here's a better quality version of Cloris' performance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxukWae7Cgw Cloris was in the bottom two this week. I thought for sure she was going to go, but luckily Rocco was voted off! catlover79 10-15-2008, 06:43 PM Thank you for posting the link. I was unable to watch when the show was on. She is great! She sure has an incredible sense of humor and fun at 82. :D LauraNamesake 10-16-2008, 06:01 PM She does and always has. She got like a 22 this past week the best score she's gotten above 16 I think!! GREAT JOB!! Though I did like the Viennesse Something or other it was fun!! Indy788 10-20-2008, 09:03 PM Tonight Cloris and Corky did the Salsa with good reviews from the judges. They scored a 21! Cloris is improving her dancing skills. Please vote for Cloris at ABC.com or by calling 1800-868-3408 for Cloris is the only entertaining one on the show. JMFabiano524 10-21-2008, 01:30 AM Tonight Cloris and Corky did the Salsa with good reviews from the judges. They scored a 21! Cloris is improving her dancing skills. Please vote for Cloris at ABC.com or by calling 1800-868-3408 for Cloris is the only entertaining one on the show. Waiting patiently for the video... Indy788 10-21-2008, 09:27 PM Cloris made it through until next week! She was not in the bottom two either. Indy788 10-23-2008, 02:52 PM Cloris doing the Salsa (from this weeks DWTS): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diMiSLjDhCA Indy788 10-27-2008, 09:28 PM Cloris and Corky did the Cha Cha tonight with terrible comments from the judges and a terrible score of 15. I would not be surprised if she was voted off tomorrow. JMFabiano524 10-29-2008, 07:16 AM Cloris and Corky did the Cha Cha tonight with terrible comments from the judges and a terrible score of 15. I would not be surprised if she was voted off tomorrow. Well it's true. And between that and Misty's injury weeks back, that sound you hear is DWTS going right back to just another reality show in my eyes. Well it was fun while it lasted...hope she got a good sendoff at least. Indy788 10-29-2008, 10:13 AM Yeah. I think it was time though. It was getting to the point where it was obvious that the other dancers were a lot better than her. I watched Cloris on Jimmy Kimmel last night and she seemed to be kinda mad about it. Maybe she'll show up next week and both Tom Bergeron some more :D catlover79 10-29-2008, 11:13 AM Well it's true. And between that and Misty's injury weeks back, that sound you hear is DWTS going right back to just another reality show in my eyes. Well it was fun while it lasted...hope she got a good sendoff at least. You hit the nail on the head - it was fun while it lasted. I don't think we've seen the last of Cloris, however...;) HuntingtonM15 10-29-2008, 11:49 AM As much as I love Cloris and loved her on the show this season, it really was time for her to go. It should be interesting to see if she still shows up. JMFabiano524 11-26-2008, 10:13 AM Well it's all over now...and Brooke might have won, but we know who we're likely to remember the most! I didn't see the program, but did catch the right moment when I got home from work...am I right that Cloris' appearance was live? If so that's good because it means she's feeling better from her health scare last week. Also, did Misty appear at all? HuntingtonM15 11-26-2008, 12:37 PM Also, did Misty appear at all? Yes, they talked with her because she still can't dance yet. |
