Back in the early 80's when cable TV was the thing (like internet is today), Richard Simmons seem to be on every new talk/variety show channels that was popping up on cable TV fueling aerobics weight-loss craze of the day. Very energetic, funny and positive person.

Even his positively showed about dying when three months ago he posted on Facebook, writing in March, "I have some news to tell you. Please don’t be sad. I am .... dying. Oh I can see your faces now. The truth is we all are dying. Every day we live we are getting closer to our death."

He was diagnose with skin cancer. RIP

He had his own show on local TV back in the 80s. Here it was on in the early morning, before all these long local morning news shows existed.

RIP.

Don't remember his own show. But remember when Lifetime channel was first launched on cable TV, Regis Philbin had a morning show where Richard was a frequent guess. And sometimes Regis would join him for morning aerobatic exercise on the show.

Here's a full episode, as aired on WABC New York in 1983. On this one Jack La Lanne, a prominent 60s fitness guru, was the guest.

LOL, I remember that show. My mother had it on when I was getting ready for school. Even remember the theme song! I never imagined him to break out the way he did.

As a sidenote, Howard Stern is probably flipping out. In case no one knows what I'm talking about, Simmons was a frequent guest on his show up through the 1990s. The people who were the most intimately connected to the show have been dying like crazy recently, and I can just imagine how surreal it must be.

I have always wondered if he was related to, or named after, the Richard Simmons of Sgt. Preston of the Yukon fame.

Richard Simmons’ official cause of death was the result of blunt traumatic injuries, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office said in a Thursday, Aug. 22 press release. The manner of death was ruled as an accident.

Simmons fell on Thursday, July 11, and spent the following day in bed. On the morning of Saturday, July 13, he was found unresponsive on his bedroom floor. Authorities arrived and pronounced him dead on the scene. The next day, July 14, the deputy medical examiner concluded the examination at the Department’s Forensic Science Center.

Simmons' cause of death was certified on Aug. 22 and a full medical examiner's report will be ready by Aug. 30, the medical examiner's office said.

Arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease was also a contributing condition to Simmons' cause of death.

The statement confirms what the Simmons family spokesperson, Tom Estey, told PEOPLE in a statement on Aug. 21.

“This morning, Richard Simmons' brother Lenny, received a call from the LA Coroner's office," Estey said. "The Coroner informed Lenny that Richard's death was accidental due to complications from recent falls and heart disease as a contributing factor. The toxicology report was negative other than medication Richard had been prescribed. The Family wishes to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and support during this time of great loss.” (...)

Yes poor Richard, alright. You are suggesting that blunt traumatic injuries are natural while they really aren't.

You'd think that after Bob Saget's accident, he would've gotten checked out after he fell, but I'm imagining that he was so reclusive he didn't want to take the risk of having his image taken or something.
