A word of warning to Night Court‘s Dan Fielding: You’re going to spending a lot more time with Julianne in Season 3.
Sitcom veteran Wendie Malick, who has guest-starred in the previous two seasons of NBC‘s courtroom comedy, is joining the cast as a series regular in Season 3, TVLine has learned. She’ll reprise her role as Dan’s terrifying ex Julianne Walters, who will now be the court’s new prosecutor, replacing India de Beaufort’s Olivia. (de Beaufort announced her exit from the series in May.)
“A reformed convict and former love interest of Dan Fielding, Julianne is Night Court’s new prosecutor,” per the official synopsis. “A sophisticated, savvy woman and accomplished attorney who also knows how to make a shank out of a spoon, she’ll keep everyone in the courthouse on their toes.”
Malick appeared in two episodes of Night Court as Julianne in the comedy’s first two seasons. She’s been a familiar face to TV fans for the past three decades, with memorable stints on Just Shoot Me!, Dream On and Hot in Cleveland. Her recent TV credits include Young Sheldon, Physical, Shrinking and Billions.
Season 3 of Night Court premieres Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 8:30/7:30c, following new comedy St. Denis Medical. (Click here to get all of NBC’s fall premiere dates.)
