When I went over to my friends house a couple weeks ago, her mom was watching a documentary on A&E about Frank Casteel who was convicted of murdering the 3 ATV riders in the woods of Tennessee in the late 80's. When Unsolved Mysteries first showed this case back in 1990, I remember I had nightmares after watching it. Anyway, I was in a hurry and I didn't have to time to watch it and I really hope it comes on again. I should probably check the TV listings for A&E. Did anybody else see it?

Here is the written preview of it -

12PM City Confidential. Chattanooga: Dangerous Trespassing
When three visitors on ATV's to Signal Mountain are murdered in the woods, suspicion falls on Frank Casteel, who liked to threaten trespassers with his shotgun. Includes an interview with Casteel's former mistress, who wore a wire to gather evidence against him. Paul Winfield narrates. CC [TV PG]

I saw the A&E 'City Confidential' and what blew the case wide open was the mistress receiving 'poison pen' letters detailing Casteel's murders- from MRS. Casteel! It seemed to me that Mrs. Casteel was hoping these letters would just spook the mistress to dump Mr. Casteel. They did, but the mistress ALSO decided that this person should not get away with the murders detailed in these letters and did all she could to help the authorities! The letters (as well catching Mrs. Casteel on tape virtually admit to helping conceal evidence on his behalf ) and other evidences helped convict Frank Casteel! What was odd is after Frank Casteel was convicted, Mrs. Casteel hysterically screamed in the courtroom 'NO! NO! He's INNOCENT!!'
Of course, the couple's son also made that claim during his part of the 'City Confidential' interview!

The killer was recently in the news. A court in Knoxville upheld his conviction. The murders happened near my hometown.

You know something, I continue to mix the 3 ATV victims up with the three suspects who one day decided to go on a cop killing crusade.
