It will be titled "Lil Miss" in those program directories that list a segment title (some don't) and it will be the lead story.

I know the convicted man is suspected in a series of murders in the general area. I wonder if authorities have made any progress in tieing him to those cases?

I'll definately watch that. The segment on UM was from the late-eighties to early nineties and I imagine that Forensic Science wasn't as improved as it is now, so it'll be interesting to know what developments there have been since then.

In my area, the murder of a young girl who was killed 30 years ago was finally solved last week. The case was cold for years. Maybe Cold Case Files will pick up on it. It just goes to show that any case can be solved and no criminal is safe, no matter how long time goes by.

I watched the show last night. It was good to get some closure to this case after all these years.

I didn't need to see the crime scene or autopsy photos though.

I would have also liked to have heard something about the circumstances of her death. What happened?

I'm just glad this guy was caught.

I also watched the show last night. It was so sad and depressing to see Lisa Marie dead in the water, the autopsy photos were very graphic. The part where the detectives found the Honda under ground was unbelievable; thank goodness the neighbor saw the killer doing the digging, or the car might not of ever been found. I'm also curious as to what led up to Lisa Marie's death. Where did she first meet the killer? One detective guessed maybe at a convenience store. I don't think that an eighteen year old girl should of been driving, out in the middle of nowhere, by herself, late at night. That's just my opinion.

I appreciate the idea that people should practice caution when travelling, especially women, and especially young people. As a woman, I certainly travel with my cell phone and lock my doors. However, I really think that the concern should be placed on the fact that we live in a society where many men believe that they have the right to prey on women, not on women for daring to live the life of freedom that they deserve. There was no evidence (that I know of) that Lisa Marie put herself at any kind of risk during her travels, nor did she lead a high-risk lifestyle. She had every right to be where she was and did not deserve this fate.

We should be teaching our young boys to be safe and to respect women. We should be teaching our young girls to be safe and that it's okay to be independent.

I don't mean this statement to be an attack on you, UMfan77. I'm just trying to put the situation in a broader context.

Lisa Marie Kimmell definately did not deserve such a horrible death, I just can't help to think if she had not been driving alone late at night that maybe she would've still been alive.

I don't think women are ever completely safe, no matter what we do to prevent it. There are some very violent people out there.

Well UMfan, I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you, too. Unsolved mysteries has shown more than few cases about a woman going out with a "chaperone" and BOTH her and the person end up being killed by a psycho. So maybe LM Kimmel may still be alive if she had been with someone and maybe not. I mean you can apply your theory to most murder victims the show has profiled, male and female. Also 18 years old is pretty adult to me, at what age do you think women ought to get into their big locked cars and drive around after sundown? Even if she had stayed home that night someone could've broken into her bedroom and done pretty much the same thing to her. Maybe it's just me, but I see no error or foolishness with the victims in these types of murders. Even if a woman's prostituting herself on a street corner she's still not "asking" to be killed.

It wasn't my intent to come across as nasty, I was just giving my two cents regarding part of your post. I'm not here to start trouble. :cool:

Got caught up in the VP debate and totally forgot about the Cold Case program until a few hours too late.

Hmmmmm....there's quite a few questions and I'll do my best to try to answer most of them and of course there will many questions that we will never really have the answers to. So here it goes.

1. Circumstances of her death and where she encountered her killer? The convenience store theory was just one of many they had before they actually found her car and were able to put all the pieces together. Regrettably, in the editing process, CCF chose to use that segment of the interview rather than how it was later learned how and where he abducted her. After they found her car, the odometer reading on her car placed her just a few miles from where Eaton lived at a very well lit rest stop. By his own admission, he approached her and pulled a gun on her while she was in her car, then forced her to his place. He held her there for several days, handcuffed her, tied her up and assulted her for serveral days. At some point he knew he would get in trouble and decided he had to kill her. He hit her in the head with a pipe but it didn't kill her instantly so then he stabbed her until heart stopped beating, then disposed of her. All of this is not a theaory, it is what was actually testified to in court.

2. I'm don't mean to stir the debate on young girls being allowed to travel alone and I hope you don't mind if I comment as it relates to our situation. We seriously objected to her taking this trip alone but for reasons of her own, she insisted she would be okay. And after all she was 18 and had the right to make her own decissions even over our objections. She had made several trips between Billings, Montana and Colorado before but not via this route. Lisa was very careful and woudln't put herself in harms way. A well lit rest stop to use a restroom or to check the map we sent with her outlining her travel route? Hmmmmm.......it would seem that one would feel fairly safe under such circumstances. The fact is, Eaton was a preditor lurking in the wings waiting for a window of opportunity, be that Lisa or some other unsuspecting person, to prey upon. She was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Also we didn't have cell phones back then but we required our girls to call us during any of their travels be it day or night. As a matter of fact our other aldult, married daughters, now in their 30's still do. Well 'nough of that, but thank you for sharing your concerns on the issue as we shared many of those same concerns.

3. Awsi Dooger - I don't know when her segment will replayed but I will call Cold Case Files today and ask them and let you you. If all else fails, I will be receiving copies of the story from CCF shortly and can probably get a copy to you.

I went to a movie with my best friend the night this aired. I completely forgot to set my VCR. I'll have to check the TV listings and hopefully it will air again soon.

I wish I could see the Unsolved Mysteries segment of the Kimmel case first before seeing the Cold Case files version, haven't seen it in a while.

To Mrs. Kimmell -

As I'm sure you know, many witnesses reported seeing your daughter in the days after her disappearance. More specifically, a couple of them mentioned seeing her car with the "Lil Miss" license plates. I can only assume these witnesses were mistaken. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks for filling in some of the details for us. I'm sure it is painful to have to keep reliving this nightmare. I wasn't aware of the rest stop part of the story. I always wondered, since she was stopped for speeding shortly before, if Dale Eaton somehow impersonated a police officer and she pulled over for him.

To answer your question. Yes and no, about the witnesses who reported seeing the car being mistaken. There are two explainations for that.

1. Lisa made several trips between Denver to Billings, Montana prior to her disappearence in that car. Which of course, took her thru the Casper and Buffalo areas. We are certain when she stopped to get a soda or buy gas, people noticed her and her car. It was a real eye catcher back then. So yes, I am sure they had seen the car at some time or another but were mistaken about the date because that car didn't go anywhere after Eaton abducted her.

2. A young couple in Casper, Wyoming had bought an identical car in this same time frame and ironically, the girl looked a lot like Lisa at a glance. They traveled a great deal in and around the Casper/Wyoming areas. As a matter of fact, it was their car that UM used in the filming.

So I think those are the reasons why we had so many reported sighting. I hope that helps answers your question.
