The Andy Griffith Show aired at 9:30 its first four seasons after The Danny Thomas Show which launched it. I had thought Danny Thomas ended a few seasons earlier with Andy taking over its anchor slot. Even for season 5 Andy would not get ended Danny Thomas's place. The Lucy Show moved to 9:00 and Andy Griffith moved where The Lucy Show had been at 8:30. They were flip flopped the next year with the beginning of Andy's color era taking the anchor slot for the first time and Lucy moving back to 8:30. CBS must have wanted Andy at 8:30 in season 5 to kill the No Time for Sergeants TV adaptation.
