After watching the E! program I dont agree with the way Kathy dealt with Freddie and the pills, I mean her approach was all wrong! by telling him to leave until he got straight just made him feel more isolated and hopelss i would think do any of you know what I mean? He was already in trouble.. she should have stayed with him and contacted the neccessary people hospital, etc to get him help!! Anyway thats what i think.

Maybe, but didn't I hear that Freddie was becoming violent? Maybe Kathy kicked him out and had the restraining order to protect herself and Jr. Of course, she (or anyone else) could have and should have sought help for him even if they thought they had to keep him at a distance for their own safety. But as some have pointed out already, I guess there just weren't the rehab facilities back then like there are now. I don't know which fact is a sadder commentary on the condition of society in my lifetime!

Hey Mairposal, I read your reply.. What About Elvis...He never entered rehab facilities to dry up. He went into the hospital. I dont think Freddie was violent was he? I guess she had had enough and did the only thing she could. Even though she could have done it differently. Im sure he felt more isolated and alone than ever after that.

If anyone out there has ever lived with an addict of any kind pills, drugs, booze etc. It's not an easy thing to do.

I've never lived with an addict, but one of my husband's friends seems to be suffering from depression. He's not violent, but he can act very strangely at times. I imagine living with that kind of behavior all the time is extremely exhausting.

Alot of times these people are crying out for attention. A normal person would try and help them but, the addict gets so needy.... On top of that they continue with their demons & it's very hard to talk some sense to a person addicted heavily on alchol or drugs. They make believe they listen to you but, they continue to take the chemicals. If they have paranoia on top of that it really gets difficult. It's a shame but, family & friends must intervene & listen to their cries for help & not turn away. Sometimes the addict gets really nasty though and starts saying awful things to you. In a case like Freddies I believe he had alot of friends but, they just got scared of how he was talking. He needed to go to a hospital & maybe get tied down for a couple of days. Sometimes no matter what you do for them it does not work. The producer J. Komack said Freddie had a death wish.......
