View Full Version : Happy Birthday NICK at NITE! On July 1, 2025 you will be 40 Years Old!
Merry24 06-30-2024, 09:30 PM On July 1st 1985 NICKELODEONS NICK at NITE was born it was the home of TV Shows like “DENNIS THE MENACE” & “THE DONNA REED SHOW” and than others joined.
It was the first cable network to ever show Reruns ALL NITE & EVERY NITE!
Through the years other Networks tried this formula and not to take away from there success but NICK at NITE was the only place to get it right!!!!
Currently nick@nite is the home of FRIENDS and other Modern Programming.
However do you see on the actual NITETIME Block of NICKELODEON that is called NICK at NITE. Do you think in 2025 Starting July 1st they would be willing to Celebrate in the Summer of 2025 having a Huge ALL NITE & EVERY NITE Summer Block Party by bringing back those Shows & promos that brought success to its network?
Perhaps if the owners are wanting to shut down NICK at NITE What better way to go out than doing this final publicity stunt! If you want to keep the network going perhaps making NICK at NITE a Beautiful Place to be. NICK at NITE can be Better living Through Good TV!
This is my thoughts what are yours?

Dude111 06-30-2024, 10:22 PM Yes its sad how downhill they have gone :(
tenter 07-01-2024, 07:31 AM The social official account don't even acknowledge the anniversary at all. NOT even on TV. Even 9 years ago didn't acknowledge it in 2015.
The lineup already has been stale and on autopilot.
tenter 07-07-2024, 05:24 PM Merry24, just to clarify this year we are in 2024, so we are one year away for 2025.
But given with nick@nite autopilot, they're NOT even going to bother celebrate anniversary at all.
Yes its sad how downhill they have gone :(
A big problem with "modern" Nick at Nite is that it's not longer interested in airing shows that just previously, were not part of any kind of regular rerun syndication package. That's a lot different than what they're doing now with scheduling a a five hour overnight marathon of Friends, which is already also on TBS, in local syndication, and several streaming services. So what's the point of airing a five hour overnight marathon of a show you can watch instantly at the push of button at any time?
24/7 reruns 12-26-2024, 03:17 PM Time for Nick @ Night to retire.
tenter 12-29-2024, 06:38 PM So nobody else cares for nick@nite anymore? Even when they added new different shows?
Dude111 12-29-2024, 10:56 PM They arent as good as they used to be mate!
stevea 12-29-2024, 11:08 PM All the life has been sucked out of it, so that it's now a nothing burger.
Even at their 20th, and of course before, they still had innovative, creative, and clever people there, who created interest in the shows, no matter which shows they were. The bumpers and promos were in a word, great.
Now, no time for all that, especially bumpers. What money can be made from those?
tenter 03-12-2025, 12:26 PM With four months away for July 1, I have a feeling nick@nite isn't going to acknowledge 40th anniversary at this point anymore, with only current schedule that has Friends, The Big Bang Theory, and Modern Family.
Even 10 years ago in 2015 didn't acknowledge those.
Adem422 06-07-2025, 01:54 PM We are less then a month away from Nick At Nite turning 40. I don't see them doing anything it would be awesome even just for 1 night or 1 week or a couple of weeks or 1 month but they obviously couldn't be bothered to. The reason I believe they couldn't be bother to is because of being safe and staying with what makes money because its all about money and their scared doing something different will lose even just tiny bit of money and I get it they need money to keep afloat but even just for a little bit like I said above isn't gonna hurt but it apparently to them it does and its sad. But it's fun to think about how fun and nostalgic it can be with all the classic shows and bumpers just for one more time and feel like you younger or kids again depending on how old you were during your favorite time frame of Nick At Nite. For me it would be my childhood and preteen years. I mean since its summer it will feel fun to stay up kinda of like a block party summer accept for the 40th anniversary but sadly won't happen but fun to think about. What do you guys think.
24/7 reruns 06-07-2025, 03:34 PM Like many channels, think MTV, AMC, CMT, TV Land, etc, Nick at Night lost it's way.
I haven't watch it or the other channels I listed in years.

Like wise I haven't either and true I agree they have lost their way. But theres a mixture of reasons they lost their way like people watchiing stuff more on youtube or watching videos on fb or instagram or tiktok and streaming services netflix, hulu, amazon prime, tubi etc. Live streaming services like youtube TV, directv stream, xfinity stream, philo, sling tv but its also hard to say how many people watch those channels on those live streaming services I mentioned. Also a lot of companies / corporate rather stay safe re running episodes of one show if it will make money and not try other things / stuff. But it would be fun to think about what it be like to watch a Nick At Nite 40th anniversary thing and have a little fun but it's not gonna happen.
You also mentioned Nick At Nite should retire and I agree but also maybe rebrand to classic nick shows. I Know we had 90s Are All That, The Splat, Nick Splat, and Nick Rewind on Teennick but try again and even better on Nick At Nite but I doubt that would ever happen either It's just a dream lol
Adamantium 06-07-2025, 09:19 PM As a kid in the '80s, I loved Nick at Nite and watched it regularly from 1985 to 2000. I continued a little but probably up to 2003. Nick at Nite has been around for 40 years, and I haven't watched it in the past 20.

I feel that completely as a kid in the '90s and '2000s I loved Nick At Nite as well and I watched it pretty much regularly from like 1996 - 2010 after that it was not regularly or barely regularly. I haven't Watch Nick At Nite in like the past 10 years give or take a little.

sloppymagoo 06-26-2025, 05:59 PM Hey there folks! Glad to see other people raising awareness for Nick at Nite's 40th anniversary. Just another rabid fan here of the classic Nick at Nite line-up and marketing. I recently wrote a piece reminiscing on some things that made Nick at Nite so special. It is brief. I hope you enjoy it, thank you.

Nice article. I too loved Nick at Night. The promos were hysterical especially the one interviewing the back of Patty Duke's head.
I think the first over the air channel to runs old shows was Retro TV aka RTV.
Too bad there is no recognition of the anniversary. So it goes.
If you write other relevant article fit for these forums please post links for them.

Yes, it used to be a great channel. The last anniversary celebration I remember was the 20th in 2005.
Unfortunately it's now on auto-pilot, and any signs of its glory days are long gone.

Thank you for the kinds words! I sure wish there was some ground swell support for celebrating July 1st as Nick at Nite day too. We'll do our part in our own small way. Speaking of which, here are a fantastic collection of Nick at Nite commercials thanks to the excellent work of Vinnie Rattolle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pl8FNQxC3N8
"The STONES!" :) Gets me every time...
I honestly don't write very often, only when I'm greatly moved by something and yes, the 40th anniversary of Nick at Nite was something that roused me to action.
As silly as it may sound, some of the fondest memories I have up until 2000 involved Nick at Nite playing on the tube. :)
sloppymagoo 06-28-2025, 02:20 PM Yes, it used to be a great channel. The last anniversary celebration I remember was the 20th in 2005.
Unfortunately it's now on auto-pilot, and any signs of its glory days are long gone.
Yeah, I think the last time I remember watching it was Thanksgiving 2006 for a Beverly Hillbillies marathon But it could have been TV Land too, I can't recall.
Opinions may differ, but for me 1985-2000 was the height of Nick at Nite greatness. It started to jump the shark with the advent of TV Land. Didn't have the same dynamic for me.
Merry24 06-28-2025, 08:20 PM Tenter, Thank you for posting former Schedule anniversaries atleast we can look back and celebrate that way.
Sloopymagoo, Glad you posted some of the old promos.
It would be nice if Pluto TV can add a real Classic NICKELODEON/NICK at NITE Channel airing its old promos as well.
I think why folks really enjoyed NICK at NITE was because during the day it was one channel and by NITE it was an entire different Channel. Another reason was because it was airing those shows at NITE that was relaxing and funny and silly. Yes alot of today channels airs what NICK at NITE aired but they air them during the Mornings. Even TVLand aired those NICK at NITE shows in the Mornings instead of 8pm-ALL NITE and EveryNITE.
So here’s to Pluto hopefully soon airing old NICKELODEON/NICK at NITE Channel.
NICKELODEON Day
Mr.Wizards World
Muppet Babies
Double Dare/Marc Summers
You Can’t Do That On Television
Lassie
Dennis the Menace
Finders Keepers
NICK
at
NITE
Dennis the Menace
My Three Sons
Donna Reed
Patty Duke
Many Loves Of Dobbie Gillis
The Danny Thomas Show
Car 54, Where Are You?
Mister Ed
Laugh-In
The Monkees
More!
Old Promos and stunts airing a different show every half hour.Airing Holiday Stunts in addition to Classic TV Countdown and Summer Block Parties.
HAPPY 40th Birthday NICK at NITE!
PS I agree 85-98 & 85-99 were the best years!
24/7 reruns 06-28-2025, 08:53 PM Pluto already runs some of the shows you mentioned. Yet they are not set as a dedicated Nick at Night channel.
Merry24 06-28-2025, 09:34 PM True but like Dick Van Dyke was a 24/7 channel than moved to Classic TV Families Channel now moved to the Classic TV Comedy Channel on Pluto TV.
Danny Thomas & Donna Reed & Patty Duke they only air their Christmas episode during the Holiday season and they air Dennis the Menace sparatically but not at NITE.Where they could air the series NITELY.
tenter 06-29-2025, 08:48 AM Thanks, I thought it would be nice to post former schedules, even though the channel block won't do recognition, given its on autopilot. But it's ok to post some feedback and comments for 40th anniversary. Of course the other shows are on pluto, RewindTV, AntennaTV, tubitv, etc... streaming and/or digital channels.
