I don’t know where to begin with this one, so let’s just lay out what we know.
Simply said, as teased at the January Television Critics Association press tour, The CW is developing a series that would spin off recurring characters from "Arrow" and "The Flash" as some sort of DC Comics “superhero team-up” hour, our sister site Deadline reports.
What’s known: "Arrow‘s" Brandon Routh (who plays Ray/The A.T.O.M.) and Caity Lotz (formerly Sara/Canary) would star in the offshoot, as would "The Flash‘s" Wentworth Miller (Leonard Snart/Captain Cold) and Victor Garber (Dr. Martin Stein aka half of Firestorm).
Because Lotz’s character died on "Arrow", it’s unclear what role, old/resurrected or new, she would play.
Also known: The project, Deadline says, would feature three “major” DC Comics characters that have never appeared on a TV series. (Live action presumably being the unsaid qualifier there, but I’m just spitballing.)
Lastly, known: Arrow/Flash EPs Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim are, of course, behind the project, which could skip the traditional pilot process and get ordered straight to series.

Captain Cold won’t be going it alone in The CW’s buzzy spinoff project that will mash up characters from both "Arrow" and "The Flash".
As reported by our sister site Deadline, Dominic Purcell has boarded the series, which is being eyed for a midseason 2015-16 launch, as Flash pyro Mick Rory aka Heat Wave.

The CW’s potential The Flash and Arrow spin-off has a new star: Ciara Renée, who’s set to play Hawkgirl.
Renée’s been busy on Broadway, appearing in both Big Fish and Pippin in the past year. She’s appeared on television before, but playing Hawkgirl would be her first starring role.
Hawkgirl — whose real name is Kendra Saunders — is known for being one of DC Comics’ first female superheroes, and comics fans will recognize her from the Justice League animated series.
In the show, Saunders will be starting to learn that she’s been reincarnated over and over again — and that wings sprout out of her back when she’s provoked.
Although most details about the proposed spin-off haven’t been announced, Arrow and Flash executive producer Greg Berlanti told EW “it honors all of the great team up movies, whether it’s Ocean’s Eleven or whether it’s the superhero books.”
“That’s what it’s about. If you go back to the old westerns, there would be The Lone Gunman, but there would also be The Magnificent Seven. It’s very much in the spirit of those kinds of movies and shows.”
Dominic Purcell, Brandon Routh, Wentworth Miller, Victor Garber, and Caity Lotz are also set to star.

JamesG 03-30-2015, 10:28 PM Arrow/Flash Spinoff Taps "Doctor Who" Alum as Time Traveler Rip Hunter
by Vlada Gelman
March 30, 2015
The CW’s proposed Arrow/Flash spinoff continues to expand its superhero roster, with "Doctor Who’s" Arthur Darvill as the latest addition, our sister site Deadline reports.
Darvill’s character is Rip Hunter, a roguish time traveler who hides the strains of being responsible for history itself behind a facade of charm and wit.
Rip Hunter is one of three DC Comics figures in the project who have never been portrayed on TV before.

The CW jumped into the fall 2015-16 fray on Thursday, ordering three pilots to series including Arrow/Flash spinoff DC’s "Legends of Tomorrow".
When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat – one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself.
Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?
The cast includes Victor Garber, Brandon Routh, Arthur Darvill, Caity Lotz, Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller.
Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and Sarah Schechter are the EPs.

The Arrow/The Flash spinoff seems like the tipping point, says Vinnie Mancuso: "The whole thing screams of, I don't know, doing it just to do it? Putting all your eggs in one basket, and then dousing that basket in radiation until the eggs have super powers? It's a sign of scraping the proverbial bottom of the barrel to get while the gettins' good and this super hero trend still makes the big bucks. But is it a snake that eats its own tail?"
robyrob 05-09-2015, 09:03 AM I actually like the idea of a team-up series better than a stand-alone version of The Atom - you can really only take so much Brandon Routh (even a two-hour long movie is waaay too much)
I don't think a third show is overkill; we don't even know if it will run concurrently with the other shows or be slightly staggered to try and fill out their season more.
I am happy that the idea of time travel could allow Caity Lotz to come back as the REAL Black Canary, still not believing the other one.

The newest DC superhero series for The CW, midseason entry "Legends of Tomorrow", will likely air alongside the other two such shows on The CW, "Arrow" and "The Flash".
That strategy is opposed to a run while one or both of the fall series are on hiatus before a spring return, as was the case with "Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D." and "Agent Carter" on ABC.
“Legends of Tomorrow is part of the Arrow-Flash universe,” The CW president Mark Pedowitz said during an upfront press call Thursday morning. “They will live together as three shows and crisscross as needed.”
Pedowitz described "Legends" as “a bit of Dirty Dozen and Redemption.”
Per the show’s official description, “having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?”
Pedowitz also confirmed the superhero identity of "Legends" cast member Caity Lotz, who played Sara Lance aka Black Canary on "Arrow" before being killed off earlier this season: she will play White Canary.
