So there are quite a few sitcoms that were popular that have still not ever aired on any over the air diginets. I am wondering why they haven’t.
The Golden Girls- It’s spinoff Empty Nest aired on Laff from 2015-18 but this show was very popular and it seems odd none of the diginets have shown it. It’s aired for years on Hallmark and TV Land and cable but usually cable doesn’t have exclusive rights.
TGIF shows- Full House finally made it to the Weigel networks in January 2022, which was already later than most shows. So far, it is the only one to have aired. Perfect Strangers, Family Matters, Step by Step, and Boy Meets World still have not aired. Is there something holding them back from being aired over the air?
Fresh Prince of Bel Air- This is another one I am surprised has none of the OTA networks have acquired.
Friends- I know it still airs on local channels in many markets and is still going strong on cable on TBS and Nick at Nite. Even still, it turns 30 this year and would seem like a show that could work on one of the networks that shows newer shows, like Laff or COZI. Could it possibly be too expensive for those networks?
Any input would be appreciated.
