Back in the 50's 60's and 70's up to the 80's and 90's and even today I noticed that many upcoming celebrities seem to begin doing commercials as their first step to becoming famous in Hollywood. Is it because commercials are easy to do for celebrities to start gaining fame or do celebrities think commercials give them huge money at first? Take for example in the 80's it was quite common to see child stars get their starts in commercials. Take for example before starring in The Wonder Years Fred Savage was a commercial actor appearing in commercials for Pac-Man Vitamins and Viva Paper Towels and based on being on commercials Fred Savage became a huge household name. The same thing happened to Keshia-Knight Pulliam of The Cosby Show who appeared in toy commercials and landed her big role in The Cosby Show. Burger King commercials also launched the careers of Elizabeth Shue and a young Sarah Michelle Gellar and it seemed that when you were famous Burger King commercials got you to fame. Another star who was also in Wendy's commercials was Tom Hanks's wife Rita Wilson and based on that one commercial alone made Rita Wilson a star. In the 90's the same thing occurred when commercials began using unknown actors to make them famous in Hollywood. 7-11 began doing this when they took a handsome young fella who would be the face of 7-11 commercials of the 90's and this fella would later get his first big movie role in 1995 in National Lampoon's Senior Trip. Who am I talking about? "Survey Says" Jeremy Renner. And Jeremy Renner had been a commercial actor appearing in commercials for Duracell and Kodak in addition to 7-11 commercials and now is a huge star today. Another celebrity that also was first a commercial actor was the late Paul Walker and he appeared in commercials for Davidoff Cool Water Cologne and based on that Paul became a rising star. Do you think celebrities like doing commercials first to get huge money to get going on the road to Hollywood stardom?
