With the CW changing direction airing a trio of Canadian imports I like this past season and starting the animated Corner Gas continuation, I now have a top 10 list of Canadian shows.
1. Corner Gas (live action)- By far the best 21st century sitcom, only US one that comes close is The Middle.
2. Heartland- First five seasons were excellent. Then when Georgie joined it became top notch until they jumped the shark killing off Ty in the season 14 premiere. I still watch the new seasons when they come to UP but Heartland is past its prime now.
3. Wind at My Back- fantastic period drama that would appeal to fans of The Waltons
4. Hudson and Rex- I saw almost all of season 5 on UP except the one episode they skipped, now they should air the first four seasons on linear TV. Rex is one of the best ever animal characters.
5. The Spencer Sisters- Lea Thompson and Stacey Farber portray the best mother daughter chemistry I have seen since Gilmore Girls. I am angry at Canada's poor treatment of it burying on Fridays where The Spencer Sisters didn't have a chance at season 2. :(
6. Wild Cards- Vanessa Morgan is thoroughly charming as the sexy lead. Supporting cast could use some shoring up, and feature Max the cat more!
7. Corner Gas Animated- I just started watching this last night, have seen the first eight episodes. As anyone who has followed my posts for awhile knows, I don't usually care for animated shows or cartoons. This is an exception with all the living core cast voicing their characters, not as good as classic Corner Gas but worth watching a lot more of.
8. Sight Unseen- Not the same appeal as The Spencer Sisters and Wild Cards but still good. I wonder if the producers have seen Blind Justice, the short-lived cop drama from 2005 that aired on ABC. :lol:
9. The Border- I liked the few episodes I saw awhile back when it aired in syndication.
10. Check It Out!- I enjoyed the one night marathon of this WGN aired back when they had retro nights.
