Ray looked and acted sleazy as hell and was Willona's ex who wanted to get back with her and she was like,"Go away and leave me alone!" And took him back all because he gave her some ring or something like that. They dated until Thelma told her that Ray came on pretty strong too her and grabbed her. Willona came to her senses and punched Ray out of her life.

In A Matter Of Mothers, Jeffrey, , Willona's Boyfriend "bought," Penny a short lingerie nightgown (Penny is only around 11! ) and Willona didn't automatically think Jeffrey was some kind of creepy Pedophile and dump him for that. I remember a Fan saying something like,"Jeffrey seemed creepy to me before I even saw him, buying a short lingerie nightgown for a CHILD! You don't buy a shirt lingerie gown for a CHILD. WTF!" Another Poster said something like,"I thought Jeffrey was creepy too . Willona should have thought that Jeffrey was a creepy Pedophile. Willona should have dumped him then and there."

Willona SERIOUSLY tried to put her foot down when"Jeffrey," bought the $2,500 brass bed and even then she gave in. She FINALLY had enough and told Jeffrey off when Jeffrey showed up with a bunch of freaks as "Friends," at their coming out party and was like,"You have gone way too far, bringing these Freaks around my Young Daughter and need to leave and take your Freaks with you!" The red flag was actually the short lingerie nightgown for a CHILD, but better late than never. Willona was told it was all an elaborate scheme when Miss Gordon showed up and admitted Jeffrey was an Actor (YIKES!) and the party filled with the Freaks was meant to make Willona look like an unfit Parent. Willona was SHOCKED. It seems that Jeffrey ended up liking Willona for REAL because he looked regretful and remorseful and said,"Any other time, any other place, you still would be too good for me!" Willona said,"Jeff, get out!" And Jeff had a sad look of,"I messed up badly!"

Of all the GT episodes, the episodes related to Penny adaption are probably my least favorite and usually pass on them when its showing on TV. Too much drama for a TV comedy show and Penny character not being able to act. Maybe it would have worked better with different actress.

Janet Jackson's acting was VERY good in the first Penny episodes when she was being abused by Lenala Gordon but kind of fell flat after she was adopted by Willona. Fans of Good Times said the Penny arc should have stopped after the first four episodes and Penny should have been adopted by another family never to be seen again or at LEAST be adopted by Bookman so she'd be a recurring cast member and not a main cast member. A Fan replied something like,"Penny being adopted by Bookman would have been a disaster. Bookman was immature and an overgrown kid himself and not fit to be a adopted Father."
