The End: 'Raymond' to Call It Quits?

Ray Romano may be on top of his game with his mega-hit TV sitcom "Everybody Loves Raymond," but that's not stopping him from threatening to pull the plug on the show in a year or two. Why? Romano says he doesn't want to wear out his welcome, according to the October 5 issue of TV Guide.

"It could be one more after this," he admitted to TV Guide. "You don't want to leave when you're sliding down. In the beginning people didn't know us, and they never laughed. Then there was a middle period where they laughed at what they thought was funny. Now it's totally gone the other way--they're laughing way too much." They're laughing so much that three members of the cast won Emmys last week--Romano for best actor and Brad Garrett (Robert) and Doris Roberts (Marie) for their supporting roles. Patricia Heaton won the best actress Emmy last year for her role as Debra. The whole thing has Romano stumped. He claims he doesn't know why people love it so much. "We could stand on stage naked and say nothing and people would think it's funny," he said. "Well, that would be pretty funny, actually."

On Ray's official website he said that he will continue to do the show as long as there are stories tp write and as long as the audience wants it. I really don't think CBS wants to lose ELR anyway.

It's a very good show and hope they don't end it just because it 'feels' right. Jerry Seinfeld did it with his show and to be honest probably had a few good seasons left in him.

I love this show and I didn't start watching it until it started reruns last year. Now I watch it almost every Monday night. Personally, I think they should call it quits, going out on top is the overall best thing that could and should be done, much like what was done with Seinfeld.
