Who had time for a relationship when Barney was in the picture?

Andy didn't have time for a wife. He was on duty as sheriff/justice of the peace 24/7. He also performed in the choir, band (as band leader no less), barbershop quartet and was on the bowling team. He was apparently a competent guitarist, able to jump in and play along with the Darlings, Jim Lindsey and others. He organized his high school class reunion, briefly operated a laundromat and even delivered a baby. And he was still able to devote quality time to Opie – reading stories, going fishing and camping, etc.

This is a good time to reveal my personal, current Top 10 list of The Hottest Ladies of Mayberry, though these women are not all necessarily suitable to become Andy's partner.

In order to qualify for this list, the woman must have been shown to be a resident of Mayberry, the town proper or greater area.

A visitor like Barbara Eden, Susan Oliver, Whitney Blake, or Ruta Lee does not qualify for the list, though certainly hotties.
