If this famous UM cold case were to be solved where would it rank with the other cold cases that we have seen solved? and I wonder if one perpetrator was responsible for all of the crimes that were showcased in the UM segment. I would be very happy for Jane if her perpetrator were brought to justice after all these years.

There have been numerous UM cases solved in the last several years that I had once given up hope on ever being solved. I was so excited to be wrong. If this one got solved, it would rank right near the top along with the Oberholtzer/Schnee, the Cook/Van Cuylenborg and the Lisa Ziegert homicides.

I’m a little hesitant to believe that all the victims are of the same killer. I think most of the victims were done in by the same man. The ones I’m not sure are Cathy Milican and Linda Moore. Moore’s attack being in her own home (or while entering her own home) is vastly different than the locations of all the other abductions/attacks. That always threw me off. And Barbara Agnew being tied to Gary Westover sounds legit, from what I read. Although it’s possible one of the three friends Westover was with that night could be the CRV killer.

On a side-note about this case, two things I always found extremely fascinating….

The discovery of Bernice Courtenmanche’s remains, the murder of Linda Morre and the discovery of Eva Morse’s remains all happened during the same week, over the course of 5 days.

Elizabeth Critchley (victim #2) and Eva Morse (victim #5) their remains were discovered along the same road (separated by a couple hundred yards) by the same two brothers 5 years apart. Critchley in 1981 and Morse in 1986.

Wow you are very well informed on this. I have never been able to wrap my head around this one from the UM segment. Do you have a suggested article or doc that breaks it down?

Buy the book ‘Shadow of Death,’ by Phillip Ginsburg. It is a must read that provides so much more information than any article ever could. It’s got extremely detailed background stories on all the victims (UM only shows their photos for a couple seconds) Jane’s entire ordeal and the filming of the UM segment. Very interesting stuff throughout.

Another interesting thing you learn while reading the book is that the reenactment of Jane’s attack on UM left out some things. Like the fact that she was in the parking lot longer than portrayed. One of the pop machines ate her change so she spent a couple minutes searching her car for extra change before buying her drink from a second vending machine. Also, when the attacker forced her out of the car, she broke her back windshield in the struggle. He asked her if the license plate was Massachusetts and when Jane told him, no, it’s New Hampshire, he started to walk away back to his vehicle. Jane, full of adrenaline and anger yelled, “What about my windshield?” He then turned around, charged at her and THEN started stabbing her.

I should also add that Maura Murray potentially being tied to the killer is an extreme long shot. We have the passage of 16 years from Jane Boroski’s attack in 1988 to Maura’s disappearance in 2004. That’s just too much time passing for me to willingly believe it could be connected to the other killings. Plus, Maura’s disappearance is its own rabbit hole you can get lost in. The chances of her coming across the CRV killer on that evening at that location are practically nonexistent.

That he had ties to 3 of the victims and his house is right by where two of the bodies would found
