Last year, NBC’s holiday programming reached more than 100 million people across the NBCU portfolio on the strength of an unrivaled lineup of dynamic live events, specials and beloved holiday classics. The festivities continue this season, highlighted by “Defying Gravity: The Curtain Rises on Wicked,” a special behind-the-scenes celebration of Universal Pictures’ upcoming feature film, led by superstars Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande and the all-star cast of “Wicked” on Nov. 25.

For the second year in a row, NBC comes to the Opry, now featuring a new master of ceremonies with “Little Big Town’s Christmas at the Opry,” a festive two-hour music special from the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. NBC will also return to Miami for an epic New Year’s Eve celebration.

MIDSEASON

The network’s highly anticipated, 10-part tentpole event series “The Americas” arrives on Feb. 23 with a special two-hour premiere. Narrated by actor, producer, and writer Tom Hanks with music by two-time Oscar winner Hans Zimmer, the natural history series is five years in the making and filled with extraordinary new discoveries. The series features many iconic locations in the United States, which viewers and their families will instantly recognize, but experience like they’ve never seen before.

Also arriving in 2025 are two new pulse-pounding shows: reality competition series “Destination X,” which combines a spectacular adventure with immersive gameplay and the ultimate guessing game, and procedural drama “The Hunting Party” starring Melissa Roxburgh (“Manifest”), which will see a team of investigators attempt to capture the country’s most dangerous killers. “Deal or No Deal Island” returns a new set of contestants to the Banker’s private island for season two.

“Saturday Night Live” will mark its milestone 50th anniversary with a celebratory weekend culminating in a live primetime special on Sunday, Feb. 16 from 8-11 p.m. ET.

Happy's Place should have been switched with St. Denis Medical. Go away mockumentaries! I am looking forward to The Hunting Party, too bad it won't be until midseason. Maybe that will give Melissa Roxburgh time to guest star on more Tracker episodes.

Happy's Place should have been switched with St. Denis Medical. Go away mockumentaries!

Yeah, I could never get into the mockumentary stuff myself, CatsRule, or any single-camera stuff, for that matter. Only mockumentary shows I've ever watched in my lifetime is a couple of full episodes each of The Office, Modern Family, and Abbott Elementary.

Who here thinks Happy's Place and St. Denis Medical should swap nights at midseason? And I've never been sure of scheduling freshman shows in an anchor slot, and veteran shows in a hammock slot leading out of that freshman show. Night Court 2023 being demoted to an X:30 hammock slot sounds like a burial for it, or perhaps any veteran show.

NBC will be encoring the Happy's Place pilot which premieres Friday the 18th on Tuesday the 22nd. It will lead off the night pushing The Voice back a half hour to 8:30 for a 90 minute episode. Tuesdays at 8:00 is where Happy's Place should have been scheduled in the first place instead of mockumentary crap St. Denis Medical. However, Tuesdays are such a loaded night for me with Suits on My Network TV, FBI, and a bunch more. HP's only good competition on Fridays is S.W.A.T., which will be moving to 10:00 once Blue Bloods is over. :(

I think NBC was going to pull tomorrow's new episode of Happy's Place if the World Series had gone to a game 6. There were no ads for it during The Irrational Tuesday night. A lot more Happy's Place ads tonight after the clinching game from Wednesday was over.

Manifest's Melissa Roxburgh is returning to her former prime Mondays at 10:00 slot following The Voice. The Hunting Party premieres February 3 after Brilliant Minds finishes. Suits: LA will air Sundays at 9:00 starting February 23. Grosse Pointe Garden Society which sounds like a flop will air Sundays at 10:00 following Suits: LA. I like that there are no midseason new sitcom premieres, that should increase Happy's Place chance of renewal. Too bad it went down last week because of lousy good for nothing boxing. :mumble:

NBC ordered 5 additional episodes of Happy's Place, increasing its season 1 total from 13 to 18. It is NOT a full season like so many try to claim now. Shame on the rich networks who can afford it being so cheap they often refuse to order a standard 22 episodes anymore. I had thought NBC might be better than CBS since I heard Found will have a full 22.

The truth is, I'm just too adamant on 20 being the benchmark/hard minimum for a full season. And seasons below 20 episodes will hinder a show's (broadcast) syndication potential.

I had a fight about this 10 years ago about then-freshman ABC drama How to Get Away with Murder when its full-season order was announced (with 15 episodes, no less!). This was because of the deal that its lead star Viola Davis made to do that show. During that fight, a commenter said I "didn't know what I was talking about", which is an automatic strike a nerve. Ultimately, future seasons of HtGAwM would each have 15 episodes also.

It's said that anything above 18 episodes would be difficult with Reba McEntire being on The Voice, but I'm still hoping for 20 episodes maximum for its first year.

Also, I thought Found was only going to work short seasons?

Friday, December 6 is when Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer makes it return to NBC after several decades on CBS. They are giving it a 75 minute runtime from 8-9:15, already stuffing Rudolph with a lot more commercials than CBS with its normal hourlong run. Then Happy's Place will air a new episode at a later time of 9:15-9:45, a new episode of Lopez vs. Lopez from 9:45-10:15, and a truncated 45 minute episode of Dateline from 10:15-11:00.

St. Denis Medical was renewed for season 2. It would have been nice if NBC renewed Happy's Place as well in the same announcement.

I agree, but I'm still so worried about that NBA Tuesday and Sunday games package taking up so much of NBC's schedule in the next broadcast season that there won't be any room left for new scripted shows next season. A package like that is not well-suited for a broadcast network, only a cable network. I wish that package could still end up on the USA Network even with Comcast spinning off its cable properties in the near future.

I supposed if Night Court 2023 were renewed as well, it, Happy's Place, and St. Denis Medical would all have to relocate to Friday, and Dateline, in turn, would have to permanently ditch its two-hour format and go back to a single hour.

Also, no night swap for St. Denis Medical and Happy's Place this year, not even for a single week just as an experiment?

The Hunting Party has been advertised during a few NBC shows this week, but for the original February 3 date. Nothing mentioned about this Sunday's stunt buried at 7:00. It won't even have direct football lead-in with the news separating them. And football fans will switch over to CBS anyway after NBC's game is finished. While I am more interested in The Hunting Party premiere, sticking with Heartland live as UP shows very rarely get put on demand.

But it is the existing shows I am really a fan of: Found, The Irrational, og Law and Order, and Happy's Place. Plus there is Weakest Link which is not officially cancelled but no scheduling for it this season, I would have much rather seen Weakest Link than the stupid Deal or No Deal franchise continuing. While I have seen every episode of Night Court, wouldn't miss that if it went. Night Court is a pale shadow of the original. Friday comedy hour next season could be St. Denis and Happy's Place, with The Irrational moving to the night and cutting Dateline down to an hour. But I have a bad feeling about Found, because of lousy Organized Crime fans Found has not done well on Thursdays. The Hunting Party I didn't like as much as I thought I would.

Suits LA sucks, has none of the parent show's intrigue. Stephen Amell is a lot weaker lead actor than Gabriel Macht, and the supporting cast for LA is a lot weaker than the original as well. Only reason I am not outright dropping is Harvey's upcoming arc. Also, Suits LA is well below Found, The Irrational, and The Hunting Party. Best case scenario is if all three of those get renewed along with og Law and Order which is probably safe. If only two of them can be renewed I would want it to be Found and The Irrational, even that is no sure thing. :(

Grosse Pointe Garden Society dropped down to an 0.09 demo for episode two up against the Oscars and American Idol. That has to be a new low for a new episode on the non-CW broadcast networks. It wasn't just ABC's competition, The Equalizer easily beat Grosse Pointe head-to-head.

I think, at this point, the easiest cancellations on NBC (whether it's to make room for those schedule-hogging NBA weekly games or not) are Grosse Pointe Garden Society, The Irrational, Brilliant Minds, The Hunting Party, Lopez vs. Lopez, Suits LA, and the 2023 Night Court sequel series (Sorry, Melissa Rauch). Yep, anything that isn't a Dick Wolf drama can get the as if it hasn't already been renewed for 2025-26, as stated by Deadline (https://deadline.com/2025/04/nbc-canceled-renewed-one-chicago-law-order-svu-suits-la-1236362614/) last Tuesday.

I'm also hoping for a renewal of Found, too, although I'm doubtful if it's able to work a full-season of 22 episodes again like it is this year because of that NBA deal forcing the tightening of NBC's schedule for existing and new scripted shows. And I can easily say the same for the original Law & Order for that same reason.

I'm hoping for a twist in which NBC gets just the Sunday NBA games and boots the Tuesday ones to either USA Network or Bravo.

Screw you lousy good for nothing basketball! Sadly not surprised on The Irrational, hope Found can still get a renewal. Jesse L. Martin should be getting other series offers. Molly Kunz should go after the recently vacated Einstein female lead.

Unfortunately, spoke too soon, as Found got the cancellation axe as well: https://tvline.com/news/found-cancelled-season-3-nbc-1235447039/

   SVU is not a good lead-in, their fans don't stick around for anything unless it was the stupid Organized Crime spin-off. Found's ratings went up for its Monday airing after The Voice.

Grosse Pointe Garden Society has been the weakest of NBC's dramas all season, wasn't doing good enough to stay on Sundays. Yet it is somehow still alive, not part of today's cancellations. The other dramas still alive are The Hunting Party and Brilliant Minds, if just one of them is renewed may it be The Hunting Party.

i love the nba and am looking forward to the games this fall that being said however imho nbc is making a mistake pinning all of their hopes on the games because there are a ton of people who may not want to watch the nbc so many nights per week i say this because even a diehard nba fan like me can olay watch ao many games before i need a break

Well, this was the first year OC didn't air on NBC, apart from the season premiere, the show is now exclusively on Peacock.

UPDATE: The cast and crew of Grosse Pointe Garden Society are cleaning out their desks today, over a month after its first season wrapped on May 16. It has also been confirmed that GPGS will not move to Peacock, either.
