After Santa Barbara ended in 1993 NBC decided to try making another soap opera that would be a strong hit. In 1997 NBC launched Sunset Beach which was created by Aaron Spelling and was set in a beach town with an interesting storyline. Some famous stars were featured in Sunset Beach such as Kelly Hu who later was in Martial Law on CBS Lesley-Anne Down and Eddie Cibrian who is the husband of singer Leann Rimes. Sunset Beach ran until 1999 and was cancelled due to the launching of Passions but I can honestly say that today NBC needs new soap operas because after the cancellation of Generations and the finale of Santa Barbara the finale of Another World and the finale of Passions it seems that the lone survivor of NBC soap operas is Days Of Our Lives and with soap operas like Sunset Beach they would fit NBC like a glove
