After finding success with singer Faith Evans and making rap stars such as Craig Mack famous Bad Boy Entertainment decided to press their luck again this time with their first R&B female group Total. How Total made their debut was on the soundtrack of the 1995 movie New Jersey Drive with their first single Can't You See which introduced this trio's talents and Can't You See was such a worthy hit that Total was destined for fame. After the release of their self-titled album which the earlier mentioned Can't You See was also featured Total released a second single which was the beautiful ballad Kissing You "This was the song that made me a Total fan" and that song showcases Total at it's finest and became a smash hit. Based on that success a new single from another movie by the name of Soul Food made it's debut. Titled What About Us? this song shows us Total's R&B skills quite well and was also featured on their second and final album Kima Keisha and Pam which also had their last single as well. However even though their album was a success Total split up for reasons unknown. But I think Total was a victim of Bad Boy Entertainment's overpromotion just like they did with Craig Mack and teen pop group Dream and Total was a really good group. But one thing I couldn't figure out is why Total's debut album had no clean version released and this surprised me because I also buy clean versions of albums so I can sing along but Total's final album did have a clean version so why not the first album? I have been studying R&B singers and groups and the story of why Total never made a comeback intrigued me so much. But perhaps someday soon Total will release a comeback album in the future
