View Full Version : 8 Glasses of Water A Day, Who Says???
Caroline13 05-02-2024, 01:26 PM Many of us have followed this so called rule and could be another piece of fake information out there......Personally I sip water through the day, and some times a full glass now and then..
You Really Don't Need to Drink Eight Glasses of Water Each Day
https://www.facebook.com/vergescience/videos/1391548564237393/ 2min
Story at-a-glance
The recommendation to drink eight 8-ounce glasses (known as 8x8 for short) of water a day is not scientifically backed
The best way to determine how much water you need is to listen to your body and let thirst be your guide
It’s a myth that waiting to drink until you’re thirsty is too late, because by then you’re already dehydrated; your body’s physiologic thirst mechanism is triggered before you’re dehydrated

Foggy 05-02-2024, 04:02 PM It is good to drink water. How much you should drink depends on your weight, exercise and surrounding temperature.
Ask your doctor to find out what your daily intake should be of water.

Foggy 05-02-2024, 05:47 PM Doctor????
YES, SERIOUSLY!!
Do you want to hear what's already said or just guesses????
According to you --- FACEBOOK and Analysis by Dr. Joseph Mercola.
is the only true choice????
So, if you think people shouldn't be listening to DOCTORS,
then why should they listen to Dr. Joseph Mercola?
How do you know he is correct????
Dude111 05-02-2024, 08:27 PM Yes it IS unless you want mainstream garbage that isnt the best!!

Dr Mercola is not the ultimate authority in drinking water!
I would STRONGLY recommend purchasing
"Your Body's Many Cries For Water".
It is the best book I know of that documents the usefulness of water.
Dr. Batmanghelidj is a physician and author of the book, he does an excellent job.
1960'sTVfan 05-02-2024, 09:28 PM I enjoy a tall glass of cold water, nothing quenches thirst better than a tall glass of old fashioned cold water. And I believe I heard somewhere that drinking water regularly is good for the kidneys, it keeps the kidneys flushed out and helps to prevent kidney stones.

I drink lots of water. I love it ! As you said water really quenches the thirst and has good health benefits . Plus it is basically less expensive than juice or sodas ( even bottled water) and to me it has a good taste , but a subtle light taste , so it doesn't interfere if you are drinking water with a meal ! :)
I don't drink 8 glasses a day, but I do drink quite a bit of water every day ! ;)

Caroline13 05-02-2024, 10:32 PM I don't believe I said Mercola is the only True one who knows....and he's NOT your run of the mill big pharma type doc, which I avoid mostly, he's alternative medicine THINKING....
On temp of water to drink, I drink mostly room temp and rarely real
cold, just FEELS right to do this. Cold water seems it would constrict veins and arteries.

I don't drink 8 glasses daily either but I usually drink a glass in the evenings after supper. I don't drink tap water, I buy the bottled water at the grocery store, the Ice Mountain brand is my favorite. I always keep a bottle inside the refrigerator so the water is nice and cold. To me, water tastes best when it's cold straight out of the fridge. Room temperature water has a less appealing taste.

Yes, it's best to drink bottled water, I think. At least around here, a lot of water comes from the river, and there are sewer plants upstream.
Also the thick plastic in some larger bottles (like Ice Mountain) is better and probably leeches fewer chemicals into the water. I don't like those thin plastic bottles. Probably the best thing would be a glass bottle--try finding that!

I'm not really concerned much about plastic bottles and whatever chemicals they might contain. I actually prefer plastic for larger beverage containers such as milk, soda, and water for example. Glass is good for smaller containers, items that come in glass jars such as jams, jellies, and vegetables. I buy sliced mushrooms at the grocery store and those are in glass jars.
Caroline13 05-03-2024, 02:01 PM Glass is best and I grew up with Glass bottles, then the plastic world did it's thing. I got a pretty nasty cut in my knee when I dropped a bottle of milk yrs ago and the scar is still there, 70 some yrs later.
Coffeecup 05-03-2024, 05:37 PM If I drank 8 glasses of water a day, I'd be in the bathroom every 2 hours. As for buying only bottled water I would be in poor house.
Caroline13 05-03-2024, 10:00 PM I was sold on buying and drinking only bottled water for years, and finally got tired of tossing out all the plastic.....I am not a happy person to chug down city water that is forced fluoridated but I had to bite the bullet and just do it...gotta make sure your thyroid is being supported as Fluoride pulls the iodine out of the thyroid gland......... I was in the battle for years to stop mass fluoridation, but the BIG GUYS won out and as with so much in our lives, MONEY driven... Many have died in the battle to STOP fluoridation. It's been going on for decades..

Here is the solution to the fluoride problem. I drink alot of water and fluoride in the city water make me throw up. So I filter my drinking water and water taste as good as bottle water. It removes most contaminants from city water-including Chlorine

Since 97% of human body is made of water, I was reading somewhere that we should drink water half of our body weight in ounces. So if one weight 200 pounds, they should drink 100 ounces of water daily-filtered preferably :)
