I watched a episode of Good Times on TBS this morning and did not understand a statement made by the character J.J-"I'm a big time Advertising Executive" So if that's the case why were the Evans still living in the Projects? Or why was he still living in the projects? Boy i would love to hear the producers of Good Times answer that one.

Maybe in J.J.'s own head he was a "Big time" ad exec, but in reality, was just starting at the bottom.

It still didn't make sense-even if the J.J character was starting at the bottom-he should have been out of that apartment. It's a shame the Evans did get out of that apartment until the last episode.

Someone had to watch over the family seeing that Florida wasn't around.

Please keep in mind that the show was about their family strengths even though they lived in the projects. Many people did not see "Getting Up the Rent" and "Lunch Money Rip-off" as Good Times, but it was the family strength that kept the bond so tight. If they would have left the projects when JJ got a good job, they would have been right back (they were in a recession and inflation was in double digits).

It still would've been cool to see JJ out on his own trying to "Make it." It could have been used for a possible spinoff.

I don't know if you knew this or not but only a strong character has their own show. Not goofy characters like J.J. Think about who would want to see a half hour of a silly character-these are characters who would have never last having their show.

Three's Company-Chrissy
Living Single-Sinclair
Laverne and Shirley-Squiggy
Happy Days-Potsie
Sanford and Son-Grady-failed-1975
Jeffersons-Mr.Bentley
Welcome Back Kotter-Arnold

These characters are similar to J.J.'s character-GOOFY

JJ wasn't that goofy by the end of the show. Besides if it wasn't for him, Good Times wouldn't have lasted that long. The majority of people watching GT watched it for JJ.

Not because he was funny-it was because he was funny looking.
