There was a sitcom in the mid 70's (I think) that featured a robot or android whose name was Max. That is all I remember about the show and I really need to figure out what show it was. If you have any ideas. PLEASE HELP ME!! I would appreciate it more than you can know. Thanks!

I don't know if this is what you're talking about, but...

Max Headroom, from 1987, was an hour-long scifi/drama/spoof type of show, where Max was a computer-generated character who was seen on TV. He wise-cracked constantly, while helping the humans he worked with at a TV station.

He was designed to look like the lead news/documentary reporter Edison Carter, and as I recall it Edison did the investigating and writing while Max did the reporting on-screen for their news program.

Does that sound like it?

That's not him. I know who you are talking about. This was an actual person and he was played by a man in about his mid to late 50's. Thanks for the suggestion tho...

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but there was a show called Future Cop in 1977, here is the description from the book, Total Television:
March 5, 1977-August 1977
An irregularly scheduled crime show, Future Cop starred Ernest Borgnine as Officer Joe Cleaver and John Amos as his partner, Officer Bill Bundy. The two veterans were assigned to break in a rookie officer, a robot supposedly programmed to be the perfect cop. The android, Officer Haven, was played by Michael Shannon. Anthony Wilson and Gary Damsker were the executive producers of the hour series.

I know you said it was a sitcom but this is all I could think of.

I think you are talking about "Holmes and Yo-Yo" though he wasn't named Max.

Check it out here:

dlemond you ROCK!!! I can't believe you came up with that. I was 7 when the show was on (1976) and it was only on for 1 season. I know why I thought his name was Max, it was because there was a woman cop named Maxine and he called her Max. THANK YOU!!!

Hey, no problem.

I remembered the show growing up.

But just to press it into my mind, strangely enough, a few months ago, I purchased a few fall preview tv guides from the '70s, and came across Holmes and Yo-Yo.

I had a good laugh about it.
