In the 2010's GSN launched a new type of reality show hoping to attract the Christian audience and be also family-friendly. The reality show was It Takes A Church and though many people called it a ripoff of The Bachelor it seemed like a fine show. In It Takes A Church a single pastor hoped to find love through a selection of crushes and at the end of the episode a crush was voted off. It Takes A Church was hosted by well-known Christian singer Natalie Grant and lasted only one season. Now I understand why GSN cancelled It Takes A Church because not only did people think it was a The Bachelor ripoff but I think it's because GSN was hopeful this show would be a hit. I saw a clip of It Takes A Church when I was watching The Chase when it was announced and I think Natalie Grant mainly took the job of hosting this reality show so she could be a famous GSN star and since I'm a Natalie Grant fan I think she would've been a big star as a game show hostess

Reality shows don't belong on a game show network period. GSN probably greenlit It Takes a Church thinking it would appeal to The American Bible Challenge's lead-in audience. I for one as a Bible Challenge viewer never had any interest in It Takes a Church. Maybe it would have done better on a network like UP. GSN failed with this and they failed bigger with The Amazing Race which I heard was an expensive acquisition.

It seemed that GSN wanted to create shows to attract different types of audiences and when The American Bible Challenge was announced this was the beginning of a new image for GSN. And with The American Bible Challenge a hit GSN saw that by having Christian oriented game shows they could attract a Christian audience and that's what they hoped It Takes A Church would do. But I think why It Takes A Church failed was because GSN hoped that this show would be a wise hit but once The Chase was continuing to be a monster hit for GSN It Takes A Church was left in the dust. But when you stick Natalie Grant in anything she seems to make it a worthy hit but i'm surprised ABC didn't sue GSN for copying The Bachelor which is essentially what It Takes A Church was an exact copy of The Bachelor with a Christian feel to it. But It Takes A Church should've been better on the Odyssey Channel or Up rather than GSN in my eyes
