Once a meathead, always a meathead? Well, if you ask Fox News, Rob Reiner is more of a meathead than ever, spewing out his political diatribes and pushing an ultra-liberal agenda devouring anything and everything that is not left of center. And if you ask baby boomers, Reiner will always be Meathead with a capital M, his beloved character from ALL IN THE FAMILY. And if you ask a film connoisseur, they will say that Rob Reiner is a filmmaker who gave us some of the best flicks ever….until he didn’t. But, really, Rob Reiner – now nearly 60 years in the business – is an extension of both of these. Yes, he spends more time on REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER than he does working on genre-defining scripts but he has solidified his career enough with classics like THIS IS SPINAL TAP, STAND BY ME, WHEN HARRY MET SALLY, THE PRINCESS BRIDE, and MISERY that it almost doesn’t matter how much money-losing crap he puts out now…and there is a lot of it…and NORTH isn’t even the worst of it! So how did this man go from making a few great movies to defining and elevating our pop culture on so many different levels to suddenly pumping out nothing but heartless, soulless political garbage and rom-coms that are neither romantic nor comedic? So did this jack of all genres become a master of none? So let’s find out: WTF Happened to…ROB REINER?

He has an honest belief in these things.

But I think Norman Lear had a one sided view of the world. He did good things for television during his time, but it may have gone to his head. He was not an expert on the complexities of society. And I think that Reiner may be following him

The title "What happened to?.......implies there is something wrong with him or he disappeared. Neither happened so that video is click bait.
PLEASE. The country is divided enough. We dont need to start attacking actors because of political beliefs. Rob is a great actor and fantastic director.
Who cares what his political beliefs are.

The question is who keeps financing his flops? His films haven't grossed more than flies in thirty years.

You must not be aware of his recent work.

A documentary?
The same people that call Kirk Cameron a victim after writing books and appear in documentaries have no problem attacking Rob for doing the same thing.
We live in very polarizing times. There is some scary stuff going on.

I'm of the opinion there's too much negativity on these boards overall. So someone devotes a thread dissing The Flying Nun as a horrible or terrible sitcom -- why not leave it alone and instead talk about other shows that the person favors? Bringing in crass and wild "WTF" commentaries from other websites is not a good way to go.

It goes for actor 'evaluations' (vicious slams) as well. God forbid that someone have an unsuccessful endeavor or make a mistake in their life. Tear them the **** down. Including deceased ones like Alan Thicke, who no longer can acknowledge or apologize for a mistake.

Difference of opinion is fine, there wouldn't be much discussion if everyone agreed about everything. But before someone is roasted for what's perceived as a flawed or unsuccessful career, why not stop and think how you'd feel to be assessed like that?

The negativity on Rob Reiner can also be seen on threads about Cameron and Scott Baio, or probably any famous person who advocates a view, left or right. It's way more nasty than it used to be, accelerated by clickbait videos on Youtube and uncivilized debate on Facebook and Twitter/X.

No actor nor anyone should be attacked for their political beliefs. I always got a kick out of George Bush having John Fogerty in his play list while John was on the campaign trail attacking him and endorsing his rival.
There are people I don't agree politically but I dont judge their work over it unless they combine them together.
What does need pointed out is the hypocrisy that seems to come from the right on this. There is plenty of hypocrisy on the left too but not as much on this issue. Laura Ingram tells black basketball players "shut up and dribble" no one wants to hear your political beliefs. Yet when Drew Brees enter the political fold and people criticize him the right and Laura Ingram paint him as a victim that hes being persecuted for his political beliefs. You cant have it both ways. If you praise Kirk Cameron for his political stances, books, and lectures, and documentaries then you should not attack Rob Reiner for it either. Yet everyone is tribal they dont see the hypocrisy.
