One of my first jobs was in a wire factory, staffed predominantly by women. They were surveying the guys to see who had substantial chest hair.

One day while I stood at my machine, the group came up behind me and asked me to pull up the back of my shirt. "There! See that fuzz?" They were on a theory of correlating a hairy chest to the presence of hair at the small of the back.

Some weeks later, a girl at the factory said to me "it was nice to see your back." I misunderstood at first thinking she said "you're back," as I had never left, then I realized what she meant.
