Who is everyone rooting for? My thoughts:

Canucks (my team) over Predators in 6
Winnipeg Jets over Colorado Avalanche in 7
Edmonton Oilers over LA Kings in 6
Dallas over Las Vegas in 5

Toronto over Bruins in 6
NY Islanders over Carolina in 7
Florida over Tampa Bay in 6
NY Rangers over Washington in 4

and hoping for Vancouver to beat Toronto in final in 6 games
(although I do think NYR will probably end up in final)

I think there's a decent chance one of the Canadian teams will win to end their long drought. Vancouver and Edmonton look like strong contenders. Winnipeg could be a dark horse team. I don't see Toronto getting out of the first round. Boston seems to have their number.

I will go with Vancouver and Winnipeg in the Western Conference and the New York Rangers and Florida in the Eastern Conference.

My prediction is a rematch of the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals with the Canucks and Rangers. Vancouver ends Canada's drought in 6 games.

I think Boston uses the fuel of last years shocking first round elimination to go all the way.

Kind of like when #1 seed Virginia lost to #16 seed UMBC in the first round of the NCAA Basketball Tournament and then the next year went on to become national champion.

I predict one team will blow a 3-0 lead in the third period. omg:

Canucks goaltenders Thatcher Demko and Casey DeSmith have both been injured, so they are putting in their third goalie in 4 games Arturs Silovs - he’s good, but it’s not going to matter unless they start getting more goals from their star players

Pasta keeps my pick alive for at least another 4 games.

I want Vegas to repeat if they go through Dallas tonight. Otherwise I’m favoring New York Rangers.

Canucks stunned the Oilers (and the 23 of 24 hockey writers that picked Oilers to sweep) in Game 1 with an amazing comeback win!

Did 23 of 24 hockey writers pick Edmonton to sweep?

I doubt that.

Well, by the 3rd period yesterday and down 3-1, I had pretty much given up on not only last night's game, but the series as well. Thank you Chris Kreider!

Crazy game. Outshot 35-10 yet Edmonton finishes off Dallas.

I think as long as they continue to sit Skinner and play whoever that is out there using his name they can give Florida a battle.

The top 4 picks of the 2014 draft are in the SCF this year. The Islanders of course picked 5th.

1 Florida Aaron Ekblad
2 Buffalo Sam Reinhart
3 Edmonton Leon Draisaitl
4 Calgary Sam Bennett
5 NY Islanders Michael Dal Colle

Does all of Canada want to end the 1993 drought or do Leaf, Canadian, Senator, Jet, Canuck, Flame fans not like the Oilers? What's the dynamic like up there?

I would guess most of Canada will be rooting for the Oilers. Most of their players are Canadian born. They just want to end their drought.

Florida came up a bit short last season. They have been on a good roll. They can shut you down. Home ice will be the difference. It will be raining rats. Panthers in 7 games.

If I'm going to get a game on my birthday I'm gonna need Edmonton to take at least one of these home games.

It looks like you are going to get a game on your birthday. They have finally solved Playoff Bob. Florida can wrap it up on home ice in front of their fans on Tuesday.

The bad news is that we will have to listen to Sean McDonough for at least another game. He's decent at other sports, but he's terrible at hockey. I miss the days of Mike "Doc" Emrick, Gary Thorne and Bill Clement.

That beatdown was the hockey version of what happened to the Celtics the previous night when they also went for the sweep.

When I attempted a sports announcer thread I voted for Gary Thorne on hockey

The lesson for today is if you’re going for the  winning game DO NOT give up an early shorthanded goal. That’s now twice in a row the Panthers have done that.

Maybe still, but I bet the series is not developing in the way you originally meant.

It's not exactly how I envisioned it after the Panthers went up 3-0. You have to tip your hat to the Oilers. They never quit. :tiphat:

Florida still has to be the favorites. Home teams are 12-5 in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

I'm rooting for the Oilers (Sens fan), but I think we would be the only fan base rooting for them. I don't see the other fan bases rooting for them.

The dynamic is with the NHL season dragging on and on and on, only fans of the teams still playing are paying 100 percent attention to the finals.

I feel Edmonton will win.

Game 5 attracted an average North American viewership of 8.5 million. That audience included 4.1 million Americans watching on ESPN and ABC and 4.4 million Canadians on CBC, Rogers Sportsnet and TVA Sports.

It's difficult to imagine there are many Panthers fans in Canada.

The numbers look even but when you look at the big picture about 10% of the Canadian population was watching versus about 1% of the US population.

Epic historical collapse vs. continuation of 1993 Cup drought in a hockey crazy country.

One of them happens tonight.

Let’s hope for overtime.
