View Full Version : What did you think?
Sitcomwriter 09-26-2002, 10:07 PM What did you think? I liked it.My favorites characters are Dylan,Claire and Jake.I find all the others annoying. For some reason it reminds me of my real life.I have so many reasons to go to a different school but 1 reason (Named Amanda LOL) to stay. What about you?
Will and Grace Fanatic 09-26-2002, 10:10 PM I don't know, it hasn't aired here yet I still have two and half hours till the airing.
LucyCompanyPhan 09-26-2002, 10:19 PM i really liked it. its probably tie with 8 simple rules for best new series this season. the humor was good (not forced humor, but laugh out loud humor) the story lines look promising. The characters are all there and the romance looks good too. i feel like this is the first sitcom in awhile to have funny basic humor. I dont really like Will and Grace because i feel that the humor is forced but this show seems different. im lovin the show and i cant wait for more!
Geekzilla 09-26-2002, 10:22 PM It's a NewsRadio rip off.
the truth 09-26-2002, 10:28 PM everything is a rip-off of everything else, dig it?
How many new ideas are left out there? Phil Hartman's gone, get over it!:D
Geekzilla 09-26-2002, 10:31 PM Watch the pilot episode of NewsRadio.
LucyCompanyPhan 09-26-2002, 10:40 PM ive seen Newsradio and so what if its a copy... u people gotta get over your sitcoms. the show was good. Nothing will EVER be orginal, im sorry, but sometimes u gotta suck it up and live with it. If they created a show sorta like I Love Lucy, i probably say they totally copied it but i probably enjoy it anyway.
Geekzilla 09-26-2002, 10:41 PM Paul Simms should get a check for every time this show airs.
LucyCompanyPhan 09-26-2002, 11:14 PM oh please.
IheartMoonlighting 09-27-2002, 01:13 AM I'm gonna continue to watch it because it comes on after Will and Grace, but I don't think its as great as the Will and Grace pilot that debuted in '98. There are some funny lines but that's about it. I like the guy who plays Jake, so that's another reason why i'm gonna tune in.
boechsner 09-27-2002, 02:56 AM Ok, I never watch any current sitcoms that air in prime time, because none of them have anything that attract me. I watch TV Land and that's about it. I do watch Everybody Loves Raymond and that's only because the reruns hooked me. So, tonight I decided to watch an episode of Will and Grace which was ok and then decided to tune into this new show.
To my surprise, I actually liked it. It wasn't half bad. Of course the best thing about it is Suzanne Pleshette. The humor isn't forced and as far as I'm concerned NBC should pick it up for the entire season and see how it goes.
As for being a rip-off: Who cares? Afterall it's not exactly like other shows (it's like a cross between Who's the Boss? and The Mary Tyler Moore Show) You want to talk about rip-off's just look at the music industry. When was the last time you heard a song that was remade.
Will and Grace Fanatic 09-27-2002, 11:40 AM Ok, I watched it now. I'd give the pilot a B
It wasn't as funny as Will and Grace but pretty good. And I'd like to add I don't think it is anything like NewsRadio.
Geekzilla 09-27-2002, 06:33 PM The Penny character is basically the same as Beth on NewsRadio.
In the NewsRadio pilot, Dave was a new employee who was 15 minutes late.
The two anchors are rip offs of Bill McNeal and Catherine Duke. Plus they are trying to make the same kind of relationship they had on NewsRadio.
LucyCompanyPhan 09-28-2002, 12:37 PM i really hope NBC picks this up. i think its fits nicely with Skrubs, friends & will and grace
by the way... actually i think this show is gonna be way better NewsRadio. I never liked that show anyway
Geekzilla 09-28-2002, 01:29 PM You will think it is better because you are like most members here who love **** sit-coms.
Central Perk 09-28-2002, 01:44 PM I didn't watch it but from the previews I saw it didn't seem that much like NewsRadio...and I have seen NewsRadio a lot.
MBFTfan 09-28-2002, 05:41 PM I agree its a lot like NewsRadio but I was never a huge fan of that show, so it doesn't bother me. I liked it, and I will probably watch it since its on after Will&Grace, but it didn't REALLY hook me like other shows have. I think the best part of it it Suzanne Pleshette's character, she was a riot, I hope to see a lot more of her. :)

Got caught up on my new shows today, still have many more tapes to go before I sleep...
Sorry folks, "Good Morning Miami" just didn't do it for me.
Too many caricatures and stereotypes, not enough laughs...
Good to see Jere Burns back on Prime Time, but it's not going to make my must see list...
callmetootie 09-29-2002, 09:24 PM Suzanne was a pleasure to watch, but the show in general wasn't. I don't think that a weather-nun is either funny or entertaining at all.

excuse me? i dont go around sayin anything about what u watch. and how do u know what i like and dont like. u dont know me at all. Get some manners, you dont know anything about me at all, but you think you have me all figured out thru a computer? how low. I dont know you but im already getting the feeling that you wouldnt know a good sitcom if it came up and bite you. Get real and just enjoy yourself.
Kay Scarpetta 10-03-2002, 07:22 PM I liked it. I got a few good laughs out of it. I wonder what the ratings are....?
callmetootie 10-03-2002, 07:33 PM The show's first rating was somewhat good, although it was a drop off compared to the 8, 8:30, and 9 O' Clock NBC shows.
Will and Grace Fanatic 10-03-2002, 10:04 PM The first episode did very well. I beleive they held on to 86% of Will and Grace's audience. The ratings for tonights episode will likely tell us if they will stay. If the ratings decrease way to much tonight they may go farther and farther down till cancellation.
callmetootie 10-04-2002, 07:42 AM Last night's episode was somewhat of an improvement over the first one, but it is still lacking good writing, good acting, and everything else that makes up a good sitcom. Some of the characters are just much too silly, and I personally think that the nun character is just terribly annoying and nothing more.
f_flower 10-05-2002, 02:35 AM i agree...the nun can be annoying, but who knows what they will do with all the characters in coming shows...?
Will and Grace Fanatic 10-05-2002, 02:47 PM Well it looks like it may stay around. I beleive it is holding on to a larger part of Will and Grace's audience than Just Shoot Me did.
Jordan 10-05-2002, 11:21 PM Well..................it could be a lot better. Some of the characters are just so outlandish and so unbelievable. They need to get rid of the nun. :happyface :happyface :happyface
Will and Grace Fanatic 10-06-2002, 12:23 AM How come so many of you here dislike the nun? I think she is one of the funniest parts about the show. A nun who swears.

My gawd, the nun is too funny! The only thing that annoys me about her is that voice.... her voice is one of those voices that goes right through your head and gives you a headache
MagicDust1488 12-09-2002, 12:17 PM What's with the nun lady? Why is she the one that tells the weather? She's kinda weird anyway.
Eddie Haskell 12-14-2002, 07:46 AM I'm in love with Constance Zimmer and want to see her dressed up without the glasses. I can see it now...Constance Haskell and Eddie Jr. :happyface
Kimbo 01-21-2003, 07:10 PM i watched the first episode of GMM , and i didnt love it, but it was okay. now i watch it every week- im hooked. and its not the same as newsradio. alot of the characters may seem the same, but they arent. i love them both! (i watch my nr tapes every day!) :)
Short-Lived Sitcom Potpourri (V) (https://jacksonupperco.com/2019/12/18/short-lived-sitcom-potpourri-v/)
Here’s a secret — all sitcom (https://www.michigandaily.com/uncategorized/good-morning-miami-fine-wake-nbc-thursdays/) writers fantasize about doing a new (https://web.archive.org/web/20140405001223/http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/topic/1806959-good-morning-miami/?view=getnewpost) Mary Tyler Moore Show with a Sam/Diane (https://www.capecodtimes.com/story/news/2002/10/24/meet-ashley-williams-this-year/50967456007/) couple. So this (https://web.archive.org/web/20061031125158/http://www.jumptheshark.com/g/goodmorningmiami.htm) “behind the scenes of a TV show (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Good_Morning,_Miami) with soapy rom-com (https://books.google.com/books?id=w8KztFy6QYwC&pg=PA550&lpg=PA550&dq=Good+Morning+Miami+NBC+2002&source=bl&ots=Atn-LG6rqA&sig=ACfU3U2mYTb1i8aKDWvEUcFs2Oga5ADdoQ&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjAl5-px5-CAxUDnokEHTN8DyU4ZBDoAXoECAQQAw#v=onepage&q=Good%20Morning%20Miami%20NBC%202002&f=false) maneuverings” is about as contrived and predictable (https://dailyfreepress.com/2002/10/17/good-morning-should-be-put-to-sleep/) as they come. Great characters is the only thing that can make it worthwhile (as usual), but sadly, I’m afraid this show (https://archive.triblive.com/news/nbcs-good-morning-miami-needs-a-bit-more-sophistication/) doesn’t have them (https://variety.com/2002/tv/features/good-morning-miami-1200545969/). It’s utterly mediocre (https://www.miaminewtimes.com/news/horribleness-of-good-morning-miami-nbc-in-general-explained-by-jeff-zuckers-ego-6550179) — the characters (https://www.mscl.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1608), the stories, the setting, the writing, the revamps. I totally wasted my time (https://www.nydailynews.com/2002/09/25/now-this-miami-is-a-crime/). And for a year, Suzanne Pleshette (https://www.nytimes.com/2002/09/26/arts/new-tv-season-in-review-good-morning-miami.html) wasted hers.
