I've been watching Chico And The Man occasionally on Tubi, and I often wonder whatever happened to Bonnie Boland, who portrayed Mabel during its debut season. Boland guest-starred as Mabel in only six episodes during season one, and when Chico And The Man returned for its second season in the autumn of 1975, Mabel had abruptly disappeared, never to be seen or even mentioned again. It would've been interesting had Mabel reappeared in later episodes, particularly during the infamous and misbegotten fourth--and (sadly) final--season, when Raul (Gabriel Melgar) entered the picture.

I found out from old newspaper that she left the show because she informed the producers she was expecting. Then after she had the baby she was waiting to be called so she can be added back to the show. I came across another article that stated she was added back and was working at a diner but imdb only has her in 6 eps.

Huh, that's interesting. I binged all 88 episodes and she only appeared in six episodes, during the first season. That was it. She never came back and in all six episodes, she was a mail lady.

Looks like that was the plan for her to be working in a neighborhood diner but it never happened.

Is she still alive? She must be 82 today.
She seemed to have retired from the entertainment industry in the mid 70s.
