CBS renewed The Neighborhood for season 7 today. I am pulling for it to hit double digit seasons and go over 200 episodes overall.

How is this show still going on? who is the audience for this, fans of Cedric the Entertainer? Who??!!!

Seriously I never see anybody claiming this show to be a favorite, not on magazine covers, not on entertainment programs, nothing, nada, zip. I mean I don't watch any network shows and with streaming becoming the norm I doubt the ratings on this are anything to write home about.

The Neighborhood is one of my favorites and it does well in the ratings. There are several who still watch network TV, just because you don't... It's not just Cedric the Entertainer, the adult core cast of six are all good.

CatsRule/IceCream, I guess you're also wishing that The Neighborhood had gotten the Super Bowl lead-out slot instead of The World's Best (which was a horrific failure) or the 2021 version of The Equalizer (irrespective of the ratings success it became). Then the blow to the CBS comedy division's ratings after the end of The Big Bang Theory would have been softened somewhat, so The Neighborhood should be getting better ratings than just 6-7 million and a demo in the upper 0's/lower 1's (in Live+7) right now. The truth is, The Neighborhood just isn't a big DVR gainer, in fact, not as big as Young Sheldon is. If The Neighborhood's initial critical reception wasn't as bad as it was, and if I weren't so hesitant to accept Beth Behrs being in its main cast after the abrupt cancellation of 2 Broke Girls with no real series finale, then maybe CBS shouldn't have given the post-Super-Bowl slot to The World's Best in the first place.:(

What irritates me with CBS is them hardly ever advertising The Neighborhood despite it usually being Monday's highest rated show for them. I watched three hours of CBS tonight with Tracker and the Billy Joel concert, didn't see a single ad for The Neighborhood.

The reason for this show being renewed is quite obvious but we'll let that be the elephant in the rooms of your minds.....it's 2024 come on now people

What's the appeal of the show though?

I've watched a handful of episodes, and it just seems incredibly repetitive and mean spirited. Cedric the Entertainer's character is grumpy and annoyed by everyone around him, especially his goofus neighbor. Goofus Neighbor is basically a white, middle aged Steve Urkel that fumbles at everything. The wives are there to basically wag their fingers at their husbands respectively (Cedric's telling him to stop getting bent out of shape, and Goofus Neighbor to exhibit second hand embarrassment at his existence). The rest of the cast seem to be chess pieces that enable the plotlines to happen.

I don't want to shame you or anyone who likes this show. It's just...I'm confused on what the appeal is exactly. The episodes I've watched are more recent, so was the show different when it began?
