One of the most memorable characters, regular and recurring, on Saved By The Bell: The New Class throughout its overlong, interminable seven-season run on NBC's Saturday morning TNBC block from 1993 to 2000 was gruff but eccentric Bayside football player Crunch Grabowski, played by actor Ryan Hurst.
Though Crunch only appeared in two episodes of SBTB: The New Class in the autumn of 1993 ("The Slumber Party" and "Swap Meet") during its lackluster debut season, both of his appearances were hilarious and unforgettable; it's almost unfortunate Crunch didn't appear in any more episodes for the duration of SBTB: The New Class' never-ending run, because Ryan Hurst was hilarious as the hulking but sensitive Crunch...had Crunch appeared during the second season of SBTB: The New Class, it would've been interesting (and hilarious) to put Screech in his place as well as put the fear of God in him whenever Crunch stomped up and down the hallways at Bayside.
What are your thoughts on Ryan Hurst's performance as Crunch? Did any of you enjoy his performance as Crunch? Or did Crunch rightfully deserve to be dropkicked and jettisoned into SBTB: The New Class oblivion alongside one-season wonders Scott, Weasel, Vicki, Bobby, Brian, and R.J.?
Drop me a line...I'd love to hear from all of you sometime! Enjoy your day, everyone!
