The real danger for the residents of Jackson County, Missouri had this passed was being ripped off for the next 40 years! They overwhelmingly rejected subsidizing billionaire owners in their endless quest for corporate welfare. The Royals aren't just interested in a new stadium, no sir, they want an entire "baseball district", a ripoff on steroids! The Hunt family (Chiefs) has a net worth of about 25 billion dollars, and they are generously willing to put 300 million towards an 800 million renovation. Wow, big deal, hallelujah!

MLB and the NFL are monopolies that in no way operate in the public interest. Congress needs to cowboy up, break up the monopoly or establish clear criteria that protects the public interests. There is no justification for the current arrangement, it's nothing short of a license to steal.

The plan was for a baseball district, with the Chiefs staying in a newly renovated Arrowhead (the current baseball park would be torn down). The issue is this, taxpayers don't want to be subsidizing professional sports teams. If the A's stadium goes on the ballot in Vegas it will lose, same with the Rays stadium in St. Pete's. It's legalized racketeering pure and simple.

Arrowhead is fine, greed, greed and more greed is the answer. Luxury boxes, seat licensing, restaurants, socialization areas, clothing stores and exotic concession stands that's why the stadium needs an $800 million renovation (believe me that would have ballooned to at least 1.5 billion). What does any of that have to do with playing a game of football? That's what the taxpayers were asked to subsidized. It's disgraceful. To answer your inquiry about how much, I walk you through a few numbers:

Grandstands $145 per seat (these are the nose bleed seats, it goes up way up from this)

Parking $50

Premium Parking (get ready) $200

Hot Dog $10.50

Popcorn $11.25

Bottle of soda $8.00

Can of Beer $16.25

Why should hard working citizens pay a sales tax for this ripoff. The citizens of Tempe repudiated The Arizona Coyotes proposed arena ripoff a few months back now the team has put a bid in for some land being auctioned off with plans to privately finance the building of a new arena. That's the only way it should be done.
