give Saved By The Bell a better timeslot. I recently eMailed them, and this is what they said:

Well I think theres room for it at a better timeslot... Recently they moved Family Matters to 10:30AM Pacific Time, and If I remember right, in the morning like around that time they would show movies at that time... and are showing a Different WOrld at 11am I think now...(This new schedule starts next weeks) so if they are going to fill up the mornings,,, why not move SBTB to then... But I see why they are keepin it at 7am eastern... so that kids going to school can watch it, But the thing is... thats only on east coast.... So Kids cant watch it on West coast or anything...

I think I'll email them too.

Just get a Tivo. I have a Tivo-like devise and I just program it to tape shows at whatever time it comes on. Currently I have it tape Charles in Charge at 5:00am in the morning on Nick at Night. It may be an ungodly hour, but not when you can just push play anytime you want and watch it at your convenience.

We know we can record it... but TBS is thinking about dropping SBTB out of their schedule because of its ratings. We think that its getting lukewarm ratings because it comes out too early, and many people don't like to record.

Before it was on at that time, it got great ratings in the afternoon.

Well just get a Neilson Box. Ha ha, j/k.

i think that TBS wants to drop the show. Networks usually put shows on at weird times so that they won't feel guilty when they drop them. they'll send the syndicators a letter saying it's business and nothing personal but with low ratings we've decided not to continue airing the show, or something along those lines. the same thing with "Murder, She Wrote". CBS wanted to revamp it's prime-time image in te fall of 1995 and so they moved that show from it's famed sunday nights at 8pm time-slot and put it on Thursday nights at 8pm opposite NBC's "Friends"! CBS knew that Angela Lansbury couldn't win the ratings race now and that gave CBS a clear head and they told her that ratings were low. She didn't wait for the ax, she knew to pull the plug on the show voluntarily and so in 1996 after 12 years her show was history. TBS, I'm afraid, is doing this same kind of stunt with SBTB.

I agree, I know this is a tacktic. TV show success is a lot about politics behind the sceens at the networks, and less about viewers watching. Plain and simple, if a network doesn't like a show anymore, they will find a way to get rid of it by moving it around to terrible time slots. Sometimes they even end a show for no reason at all (i.e Mayberry RFD was a top 10 show when it got cancelled)

I personally can't wait for the day when Tivo's, PVR's and devises such as these are a standard household item. This will put an end to specific time viewing as well as cross time viewing, and a show will live on it merrits alone. Ratings will reflect exactly how many people watched a show and not be affected by what else is on at the same time. Viewers won't have to be confused by a network switching a shows times around. A shows ratings won't get killed by being put on opposite Thursday night must see TV. Every show will stand on its own because people will be able to watch what they want, whenever they want it, and the show will be opposite nothing else. Networks won't be able to kill a show with good ratings unless they just stop production of it, which would get a huge outcry from fans you can bet.
