View Full Version : There are three sliding doors opening to the backyard? Tankeryanker 03-31-2024, 08:27 PM I have never noticed it before. Most of the time they seem to use the den door. I am not sure I have even noticed the other two. Rich3 03-31-2024, 08:44 PM They use the kitchen one also. But I don't remember them using the one by dining table. BestTVever 04-01-2024, 08:10 AM They comment on this on the Real Brady Bros podcast. The glass sliders in the kitchen are used a few times where they are at the kitchen table and someone just walks into the kitchen. I dont think the dining room ones are ever used but we get a great scene of them for the first episode of the Grand Canyon when Mr Brady opens the curtains to show the new camper. In season 1 and I think when Sam is introduced there was a mystery entrance back by Alice's room. He delivers meat and comes into the house through some back entrance that is never shown. Also there is another set of sliders in the parents bedroom but only seen once. In the episode about the horoscope and Mr Brady has a difficult client that wants her make up factory to be made as a compact. That is the only episode where the glass sliding doors are seen in the parents bedroom. TheLittleFaerie 04-03-2024, 05:41 AM They comment on this on the Real Brady Bros podcast. And ALL the bedroom windows upstairs open upon the backyard lol which would be impossible Rich3 04-03-2024, 11:01 PM And ALL the bedroom windows upstairs open upon the backyard lol which would be impossible Not impossible. The parents window overlooks the patio. Tankeryanker 04-03-2024, 11:24 PM And ALL the bedroom windows upstairs open upon the backyard lol which would be impossible I thought the girls window was on the street. When Marcia snuck out to mail her letter. TheLittleFaerie 04-04-2024, 05:23 AM I thought the girls window was on the street. When Marcia snuck out to mail her letter. The boys and the girls have all looked out of their bedroom windows onto the patio at some point. And Greg had a ladder on the patio when he was either painting or fixing the shutter on the girls' window. If it were accurate, the boys' window would face the RIGHT side of the house, opposite the patio and the girls' window would face the BACK of the house TheLittleFaerie 04-04-2024, 05:26 AM Not impossible. The parents window overlooks the patio. All the upstairs windows, seem to overlook the patio which would be impossible according to the design of the house, this was even mentioned in a "goof" section. The Brady house would be a MESS if it matched up with the interior BestTVever 04-04-2024, 05:32 AM All the upstairs windows, seem to overlook the patio which would be impossible according to the design of the house, this was even mentioned in a "goof" section. The Brady house would be a MESS if it matched up with the interior Yes, well sort of. Jan as in the practical joker watched the boys put the mouse in the garage from her bedroom window. When Bobby falls off the ladder, he is pulled through the girl's window from the back yard. Since the boys room is next to the girls room, it would have a window to the back of the house too. However I don't think we ever see a window in their bedroom. We never see a window in the parent's room either except the sliders in one episode. The parents room is across the hall from the boy's room. I dont think we see what's outside the sliders in that episode (do we? is there any dialog from Mike). But all other episodes would be consistent or at least unknown because no one ever looks out a parent's bedroom window to know where it is. Greg's attic has a window to the back yard that we see in out of this world. We assume the boys have a window to the back yard because in Fright Night they coordinate the ghost in the back yard. Bachu 04-06-2024, 08:21 PM In A04 Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, at 6m45s into the episode, we see Peter and Bobby enter the living room using the patio doors next to the dinning table. About the only time though that I can think of. TheLittleFaerie 04-08-2024, 05:08 AM Yes, well sort of. The best I can make it make sense, the patio would actually be SIDE of the house, the left side if you're looking at the house.... The window in the girls' room would open upon the actual BACK of the house, if the boys have a window it would open upon the RIGHT side of the house, which would be opposite of where the patio is.... When Bobby was scared of heights he was watching them all jump on the trampoline from an upstairs window, so I assume that was the boys' window..... The sliders in Mike and Carol's room should also open upon the actual back of the house, the balcony should be right beside the girls' window.... OR I dunno, I think the attic door goes up where the balcony should be.... it could just be one of those impossibilities lol Rich3 04-08-2024, 09:16 PM If the girls bedroom is above the den, then the parents are above the kitchen. It works. Tankeryanker 04-08-2024, 09:57 PM Facing the front door, back towards the street, where is the girl's room? https://i.postimg.cc/k4DfXysg/31cf2dcc8023485923359290c631a98c.jpg TheLittleFaerie 04-09-2024, 05:47 AM If the girls bedroom is above the den, then the parents are above the kitchen. It works. The girls' *as well as the boys'* bedroom*s* would have been over NOTHING,.... UNLESS there is some sort of space behind the kitchen and family room. I know someone did a SIMS model of how the Brady home WOULD have looked if the interior was correct, and there were literally just beams holding up the kids bedrooms lol Mike and Carol's room would have been over the kitchen, so that sorta matches Rich3 04-09-2024, 01:04 PM Alice's bedroom was behind the kitchen. Tankeryanker 04-09-2024, 02:28 PM Alice's bedroom was behind the kitchen. This part I understand. I am guessing from the kitchen you go out the single door in the corner and enter the laundry room. From there, there must be a bathroom and room for Alice. I think we see a hallway when Alice is putting her mud mask on in front of Marcia. BestTVever 04-09-2024, 06:17 PM On the last episode Cindy and Oliver are in the laundry room. Other scenes in the laundry room we dont see an outside door (correct me if I am wrong). However in this episode there is a door to the outside in the laundry room. This must be the mysterious door Sam comes through when he comes into the Kitchen from the back. Tankeryanker 04-09-2024, 07:28 PM this must be the mysterious door Sam comes through when he comes into the Kitchen from the back. Don't we see Peter taking out the trash through the small door in the kitchen, implying that there is a way to the outside? TheLittleFaerie 04-10-2024, 05:33 AM Alice's bedroom was behind the kitchen. If that's the case, then it would make sense for the boys' bedroom to be above Alice's bedroom.... I know someone posted a floorplan of the Brady house and there was some BIG room behind the family room, it looked like a restroom with outdoor access, if WHATEVER that room is was there, the girls' bedroom could be over that.....the girl's room would have been in the vicinity of the family room Rich3 04-10-2024, 06:17 PM If that's the case, then it would make sense for the boys' bedroom to be above Alice's bedroom.... But just don't try to match it with the real house exterior. Bachu 04-12-2024, 06:47 PM Alice's bedroom was behind the kitchen. The laundry room is mostly behind the kitchen. Alice's bedroom is kind of behind the area to the rea of the staircase where the open doorway is that seems to go nowhere. The episode Katchoo shows us the laundry room. The episode Alice Doesn't Live Here shows the laundry room through her open door. In later episodes, rather than erect the full laundry set, they just had a flat wall with some shelves and a cupboards. Then later still, mostly a flat wall with a picture frame. BestTVever 04-14-2024, 02:35 PM Earlier in this thread I said that we never get to see a window in the boy's bedroom. I have to correct that. Today I was watching episode 2 Dear Libby. When Mr Brady is talking to Greg in his room about the Dear Libby letter. Greg is on his bed and sure enough right behind Greg is a big bedroom window. This is season 1. Does anyone know if this window is ever shown again? Rich3 04-15-2024, 11:01 PM I can't remember where they project the ghost onto the trees from, at the beginning of Fright Night. Per previous question about window in boys room. BestTVever 04-16-2024, 06:39 AM I can't remember where they project the ghost onto the trees from, at the beginning of Fright Night. Per previous question about window in boys room. The slide projector was in the boy's room so they infer there was a window there. I was just saying that we never see that window. But now I can say at least one episode we see the boy's window. I am curious if there are any other episodes. They talk about all kind of stuff like this. They love to laugh at the tree in the back yard in season 1 that keeps moving through the back yard in different episodes. Then the tree is completely gone for season and then mysteriously appears later on again. I personally love the BBQ grill how it is not there then randomly appears in so many different episodes. In a few episodes its parallel to the driveway while other episodes is parallel to the back porch. Bachu 06-01-2024, 01:28 PM That's so cool. Do you ever listen to the Real Brady Bros podcast? Never want the podcast to end but neither do I want the remaining episodes to be full of them just repeating the plot. Chris is great. So down to earth. Barry is a little too in performer mood all the time. He doesn't come across as natural. I find it amusing that Chris thinks the bathroom hallway door is there sometimes but not at others. It is ALWAYS there; just painted the same shade of blue as the rest of the bathroom. BestTVever 06-01-2024, 04:55 PM Yes, love the podcast. You would have to tell me an episode and time frame for me to check the no door in the bathroom. Until I see it, it was always there because, it was always there. It was kind of a fixed set. The girls room has the closet sometimes flush with the wall with the head boards of Jan and Marcia on, but sometimes it sticks out a bit. The desk, always had the door to the right or it if you were sat at the desk. The desk often moved to funny angles in that corner though but it always had the door to the right. With one exception I believe. in Jan the only Child, they move it next to the tall drawers simply to not have a wider shot when Marcia tells Jan she will clear her deak and leave it for her. The BBQ in the garden; yeah, that came and went. Despite being made of brick, I guess Mike built it on wheels too. BestTVever 06-03-2024, 06:55 AM You would have to tell me an episode and time frame for me to check the no door in the bathroom. But I will keep looking. The door has a frame so its easy to notice. It was not a fixed set. Walls were taken down and they created different scenarios for different shows. So we, who are seeing these scenes over and over, will catch set design changes, whereas the original viewer was not apt to, since they were seeing the (Brady) episodes over five years. Did you ever notice infrequently shown sets will totally change, depending on the episode? This is why we see inconsistency with the laundry room, Alice's room, exit doors, etc. On other shows a neighbor's or friend's house set will totally change in different episodes. His theory was when the show was on hiatus and the stage was used by other TV or movie scenes, they never put the set back exactly the way it was. Thus some minor changes here or there. The only thing I know that was on purpose was the stone wall that disappears in the 4th or 5th season. The fake stone was crumbling and falling apart and it was necessary to just replace it because it became too time consuming to keep repairing it. I love in season 5 the wall oven changes to something more modern. The fridge and other appliances stay the same. I also noticed in the early episodes the girl's room was pink and only one wall had that busy pink wallpaper. But at some point all the walls change to the wallpaper. The boys room gets yellow door trim in season 5 too. BestTVever 06-03-2024, 04:57 PM Isn't it true that most or all single camera shows have movable walls? Regarding the fixed sets; in my mind (which you can't see or read ), I meant that many walls in the Brady house never moved as it was mostly filmed like a multi camera programme. To keep putting a fourth wall in uses a lot of expensive time for lighting etc. I have always believed that the Brady sets were always kept erected on those soundstages and almost never taken down during the production of the show. The Jack and Jill bathroom was almost always filmed from where the sinks were and they almost never took them out. In Katchoo they removed the wall at the side of the bath to film Tiger being bathed but they never, or almost never removed the wall that had the door to the bathroom joining the hall. THere is no reason to. Doesn't mean it didn't happen though. But as someone who watched the whole show and took screengrabs trying to spot this stuff, I would be surprised if they ever did. The wall, door frame and door in the bathroom are all painted the same shade of blue IMO. I'm not saying they didn't have a scene without the door (if they did, they would have had to put a bit of wall there without a door but why bother), but I am saying I believe I have never seen it and until someone can say, watch this episode and this scene and you will see it is just a wall; until someone can say that to me for me to check, I will never believe it. I haven't listened to all of Kellys Kids yet. Or is that Kelly Kids, or The Kelly Kids. I remember watching the epsode though and being amazed at how well they transformed Mike and Carols bedroom, and the boys bedroom and bathroom. They decorated from floor to ceiling. Amazing. I wonder if Robert and Florence saw it and thought, they'ed trashed our bedroom! :happyface Bachu 06-04-2024, 08:34 AM For some reason, during the first season, the girls room slowly got wallpapered wall by wall. Perhaps it was to suggest Mike was doing it to make it more suitable for the girls. Though I doubt the boys ever had a pink room to start with. Funny, never thought it it until now, but I wonder which boy or boys had the girls room originally? It's bigger than the boys room I think so I would say Peter and Bobby shared it. Bachu 06-04-2024, 08:36 AM I'd love a dvd of episodes of all the shows that the Brady Bunch house guest starred in. ;) Bachu 06-04-2024, 08:44 AM There are so many scenes in the bathroom that don't show the door. And I've watched that smoking film. It made me take it smoking! :D Also, Barry and Chris do get things wrong sometimes. They may have been there, but they haven't watched the show as many times as the fans have. Bachu 06-04-2024, 01:52 PM In Snooperstar when Cindy is looking at the diary, Marcia and Jan are looking at Cindy from the left. In other episodes this is the case too. In "Today I am A Freshman" and Marcia has her scuba gear on, Alice comes from the bathroom and the desk is moved again. Using the episodes on the dvds: Snooperstar - at 8m40s we get a POV shot from Jan and Marcia looking into the girls room from the bathroom. From that viewpoint, it is stilll in the right spot IMO. At 3m30s the directer cheated and gave us a POV shot from Oliver looking down at Cindy from the bunkbeds. We should see the door to the bathroom next to what is now Peters bed where Greg used to have it. instead, they clearly showed Petes bed where the bunkbeds are to make it easier to film what was a few seconds that they hoped nobody would notice. There is wallpaper beinhd the headbook on Petes bed when it should be wood panneling. Today I am A Freshman - 16m30s the desk is to the left of the door (when facing the door from inside the girls room) as it always is, though they have one of the walls at quite a severe diagonal angle so the desk looks odd. It is still in the right place in the room to my eyes. Bachu 06-04-2024, 01:55 PM The Kelly Kids kitchen was not a redressed Brady kitchen at all to my eyes. :happyface I smell what you are cooking. No need to be sarcastic. I am only going on what the actors who were on the set said. I would never imagined so many shows were filmed there. But Barry Williams was on the set for 5 years and if he says it was dismantled and put back then I have no other choice but to believe him. I am not trying to argue with you. But back to the bathroom. There are numerous scenes like the one when Marcia gets braces and is next to Cindy in the bathroom that dont show a rear door, correct? Next time check out that scene. We see things differently because even as a kid I saw the Kelly kitchen similar to the Bradys. The bedroom did not jump out at me as the Bradys. But Barry and Chris say they were all recycled Brady rooms. Bachu 06-05-2024, 02:14 PM I thought I should address your points one by one. I smell what you are cooking. No need to be sarcastic. My apologies if I came across rude or sarcastic. I never meant to offend. I am only going on what the actors who were on the set said. I would never imagined so many shows were filmed there. Me neither. I was surprised to learn over the years that Mannix used the Brady set so much. plus some horror film and that smoking film. I wonder what else was filmed there no one has connected yet. But Barry Williams was on the set for 5 years and if he says it was dismantled and put back then I have no other choice but to believe him. I recall him saying they dismanted it after the first year but future seasons, that they never took it down. Something I find odd as wouldn't other shows want to film in that studio? Mind, I suppose they could have took the sets down if the studio was needed but if it wasn't, it saved the time and money of taking it down and putting it back up for no reason. I am not trying to argue with you. Me neither. You are offering your opinion and I am offering mine. We have a difference of opinion, but I wouldn't say we were arguing. But back to the bathroom. There are numerous scenes like the one when Marcia gets braces and is next to Cindy in the bathroom that dont show a rear door, correct? Next time check out that scene. I've checked that scene and the door is there. I will say this; in a wide shot at 8m11s Marcia starts to move over next to Cindy and stand next to her. The camera slowly zooms in as she does this. At 8m16s the door is now out of shot and for the rest of that shot we don't see the door. What we do see is about the 2 foot of wall between the door and other wall of the bathroom that backs onto the boys room. The framing means we can no longer see the door to the hall, but it is still there, just off camera. We see things differently because even as a kid I saw the Kelly kitchen similar to the Bradys. The bedroom did not jump out at me as the Bradys. But Barry and Chris say they were all recycled Brady rooms. You could say the Kelly kitchen is similar to Brady kitchen, but I would say it is not a redressed Brady kitchen. The kitchen and room off to the side of it in Kelly Kids look like A. brand new sets or B. sets stolen from other shows. The bedrooms and bathroom seen in the Kelly house are definatley a redress of the rooms on the Brady sets. I find it amazing that they did it. i guess it is cheaper to paint a set to look one way and they paint it again to change it back than it is to build brand new sets and paint them for them to possibly never be used again. The thing with Barry and Chis is that despite watching the episode during the week, they still make mistakes. At least twice now they have bet each other a doller because one of them remembers it one way and the other another way. BestTVever 06-06-2024, 06:18 AM I mis-read your comment. I thought you said that I cant see or read (not the part in your head). I come to this board as I am waking up at 5 am while drinking my caffeine. My mistake |
