I've always liked the episodes where the Norton apartment is seen.It looks so much like a home,making Ralph's apartment look like a dungeon in comparison.

The Nortons have a tv set,a sofa,groovy wallpaper and curtains on the window.The Kramden apartment is so poor looking.

I believe there a two reasons.The in-universe reason is that Ralph was stingy and didn't want to spend the money on furnishings.
The other reason was so viewers could get closer attention to Ralph's comical experessions and gestures.

What are your thoughts?

In one episode Ralph said Ed bought everything with time payments, and he didn't want any of that.

Ed in some aspects was smarter than Ralph, what's the old saying, it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness, Ralph was endlessly frustrated by his lot in life, Ed tried to make the best out of circumstances.
