I saw the show but I missed Beaver saying that! I was on the computer too while I was "watching" it so I wasn't exactly entirely focused on it. That is hilarious. But that reminds me of another funny thing that Ward said one time. I don't remember the exact episode but I think it was one where they were still in the old house and trying to sell it. Anyways, Ward is in the boys' room and tells them they're all going out to dinner that night. Well, beaver asks his dad "Is it a dress up kind of dinner or just a eating kinda dinner?" So, Ward says "Well, it's just an eating dinner" but you should wear your jackets(as in suit jackets!)"!!! I was thinking if they where they're suit jackets when it's NOT a formal dinner what do they wear then it IS. It just amazes what kind of things they wear suits for!! It's like almost ALL THE TIME! Times sure have changed.
Maybe him taking interest in how he looked was a sign he was growing up, I mean did you notice in the last season, and possibly the second to last, Beaver NEVER wore jeans anymore? He always wore those weird khaki looking things. He also started taking baths without an arguement in the last season. Since he did that when he grew up a little, maybe his noticing he needed to dress up a little to go downtown kind of marked the beginning of his growing up.

Yep, you are definitely seeing the Beaver starting to grow up, and begin to look more adult in the episodes TV Land is airing now. The one defining moment is in the episode "Beaver's Old Buddy" where Beaver no longer gets a kick out of the fun things he and his old friend used to do together when they were smaller. Ward explains to Beaver that he's growing up, slowly becoming a man. One of my favorite episodes. :)
