The recently deceased character actor guest starred on two episodes as Jill's father, only appearing in one episode with her mother. The colonel was killed off near the end of season 6.

Patricia Richardson should've been given an Emmy award for her performance in the episode when she lost her dad. I am already getting goosebumps just thinking about her saying to Tim, "No, you don't understand!" and it's when she realized that the last memory that she had of herself with her dad was lying to him and when she asked about her mom is when Tim took her in his arms, and she fell apart. :( :( :(
