I printed it in chit chat since it is not about Playing the game, but because of the massive cheating.

It was revealed on Wednesday that Mizuhara had been fired by the Los Angeles Dodgers -- the team with which Ohtani signed a record $700 million contract this offseason -- after allegations of a "massive theft" tied to gambling debts to a Southern California bookmaking operation that is under federal investigation, ...5 hours ago.

This surely is more of a sports related thread than your Steve Garvey thread. It's the lead story on ESPN's website.

Why did you use the word cheating? It appears Ohtani was the victim of a massive theft. Maybe you should wait until they investigate it before you jump to any conclusions.

It seems like this guy was a good friend of Ohtani. He took advantage of him and gambled away his money by betting on sports. There's no word about Ohtani knowing what his friend was doing with his money.

TJ, especially with big $$$$$$$ involved, they all LIE, this I do believe. You have your beliefs and I have mine. Big money spent, wasted, and the LIES continue and the money makers continue on their money ways.....

And I don't visit ESPN website, I hear KFI radio all day and they break in with ALL world news....

Ohtani makes plenty of money honestly, and paid honestly by the Dodgers. I don't see anything "funny" on their parts.

By all accounts his language interpreter was the dishonest one -- tapping into money that wasn't his. We'll see what the criminal investigation turns up, that's what MLB is waiting on.

$700 million
MLB player Shohei Ohtani recently signed a 10-year, $700 million deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers, making it the most lucrative contract in sports history.Dec 15, 2023

My oh My How Times Have Changed, I followed Fernando:

During his baseball career, Fernando Valenzuela earned a total salary of $17.3 million. Throughout his time with various teams, the breakdown of his earnings is as follows: San Diego Padres (1997-98): $1.7 Million. San Diego Padres (1996-97): $1 Million.

Don't ask me why I posted the above, I just did and thinkiing about Fernando and saner times in the sports world ....And Biff, you don't know how deep Ohtan's honesty goes....

That was actually the original story

>>>Ohtani's representatives muddied the waters by making Mizuhara[the interpreter] available for a telephone interview Tuesday with ESPN during which Mizuhara said Ohtani paid his gambling debts by making wire transfers to a bookmaker. A day later, Ohtani's representatives renounced Mizuhara's account and alleged theft. The Dodgers fired Mizuhara on Wednesday.<<<

I hate to tell you, but Pete Rose played in the Fernando era.

In fact, gambling scandals in baseball go back to 1919.

Investigation underway

MLB opens investigation into Shohei Ohtani interpreter allegations (https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb-opens-investigation-into-shohei-ohtani-interpreter-allegations-220130351.html)

Reminds me of when the NBA investigated Michael Jordan about gambling and of course cleared him. Can MLB be trusted to be honest about their biggest current star?

Ask yourself, why would someone who is set to earn $700 million, legally and guaranteed, bother to engage in illegal activities?

Anyway, people presume he's guilty because of 2 reasons: he's a celebrity and he's incredibly rich. Despite those facts, everyone in the U.S. is presumed innocent until PROVEN guilty. Not the other way around...!!!

I wonder what they will find out??

What "THEY" find out will NEVER be known the truth of it all, just like ALL that is going on, "THEY" tell us what they want us to know or think is truth.......

I CAN'T help but question all EXCECT myself. And if somehow I'm loaded with AI, then I question me too.

The Sports World in general is a huge cheating business game/climate....Been going on for decades and often some stuff like this comes into PLAY.

Yes, I'm having a bad day with all the lies and cheating that is controlling the U.S. So add the Sports world, they are not exempt.
