The worst episode of Happy Days can either be before they filmed in front of a live studio audience or any episode after Richie and Ralph left the show
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 09-24-2002, 11:21 PM Forgot one! Fonzies Baptism. I found parts of it SO funny- like at Arnolds, but the whole church part I found to be kind of a snoozer. Except for when they all laughed @ Fonzies middle name lol.

Classic Ralph and Potsie CLASSIC!!!!!

The Arnolds scene I was referring to was:
Potsie: He pays me 50 cents!
--replying to the comments Ralph and Richie made about Fonzie being so safe and having people test his food lol.
Cactus Jack 09-24-2002, 11:33 PM Oooooh okay lol, but thats right before the quote i posted right in that same part, yep it is!!!
animalcrackers 09-25-2002, 02:08 PM I have certain scenes I don't like. The ones where Fonzie does things that takes years of practice to do and he does them right away. Like riding the bull, jumping the shark, the milk can trick. Also, some of the dance scenes, I can't picture Fonzie knowing how to square dance or doing that Russian dance he did.

CollegeGirl 03-01-2003, 04:19 PM And The Winner Is... They wrote Fonz out to be an idiot and the end was a lame excuse to patch things up. The only good line in it, "You always taught us that when you're good, you know it. You don't need anyone telling you." It was touching, but still lamo. If someone's good, you tell them. Fonzie was an awesome teacher. Roger sucked. Fonz should have won that award. Case closed.
Another part I hated, was in Roger's premier episode. Roger had been tricked to take Fonzie's stuff out of his locker. He was putting it in the trash can. Just the thought of it makes me want to cry. That should be sacrilege just letting anything of Fonzie's touch a trash can. But, my question was whether or not the writer were making a metaphorical statement with that. Were they trying to throw Fonz out and bring Roger in. Obviously, viewers would have never allowed that.
And has anyone noticed that Fonz really got soft as he aged? When I watch young Fonz, there's this fire in his eye when he threatens someone. I think  that poor person is going to be hurt. I watch older Fonz and think, "Fonz is tough, but that spark isn't there anymore. I hope he can win that fight." I think my problem is that I'm watching these shows skip all those years in a matter of months. Probably, if I had been watching in the original run and aged with them, I would more fully understand what it is like to age.
wayne 03-01-2003, 04:31 PM my least favorites are: "2 Angry men" in which everyone is behind Fonzie even though he lied to the judge, June Lockhart.I get the feeling that it's okay to lie if you know the right people.
Also, there's "Fonzie the Father" in which he doesn't act at all like a father, but instead, he uses Ritchie & makes him take care of a pregnant woman who's husband is a friend of Fonz. Even at the hospital, Fonz admits he shouldnt have made Rich stay at home with her.
The Modfather 07-23-2003, 09:06 AM The Hollywood episodes.
Crimson and Clover 07-23-2003, 06:34 PM "The Not Making of the President" i really disliked that episode.
FonzForever 07-23-2003, 09:34 PM Westward Ho. Who's the idiot who thought of this?
Writer: "I know, let's do an episode and take all the fifties elements out of it. Let's have a girl lead Richie on and make him look stupid. Why not have it a dude ranch? This way we won't have any rock 'n roll in the background. Let's make The Fonz look like an immature jerk and a lousy friend by being upset that one girl in the whole world might like his best friend more than him. People like him too much. Wow, this is so cool! We're going to need three episodes!"
There were some shows that dragged, but when you try to think of them, you can't remember because they didn't really stick out in your mind - like Hello Roger. Snorefest.
Or when Fonzie was trying to teach Roger how to pick up women. Ouch!
The worst one of all time was when Chachi and Joanie broke up. Let alone the sentimental part, but how freakin depressing. Chachi draped all over the table at Arnold's and there was nothing that anyone could say or do to make him feel better.
treky 07-24-2003, 02:25 AM the 2-part one where they all went to Hollywood. Fonzie was supossed to be the only one, but of course the writers HAD to come up with an excuse for the ENTIRE cast to go with him! The all-time WORST part of it, had to be when Fonzie had to jump over that shark on water skis, or whatever it was. And, OF COURSE he just had to wear his leather jacket the entire time!!!:thumbsdow :thumbsdow
That was as bad as when "Laverne & Shirley" moved to California, & half the town moved with them!
But then, just about all those "Happy Days" episodes after the 2nd season, I hated. (when they filmed in front of a live audience, made it "The Fonzie show", & the Cunninghams living room sudennly, and without warning, changed overnight!!!!!

TV Guy 07-26-2003, 08:49 PM How about that abomination where Chachi is writing a history paper, and imagines the cast in vignettes about historical times in America? And there's a ton of terrible singing. I get embarrassed just thinking about watching that episode.

Dr. Thong 09-20-2003, 12:25 AM From the early years, I would pick the Valentine's Day musical episode as one of the worst. Even when I was kid I hated it.
And just about any episode from the post-Ron Howard years qualifies, in my opinion, with the exception being the episode where Richie and Ralph return home from the army.

:talk: i think the Valentines one was the worst for me too - it made me cry when i was little.
Honorable mentions go to:
any of the Loooong drawn out melodramas with joanie and chachi breaking up and getting back together and breaking up again -YUCK!!!
the "Hello, Flip" episode - man what a FLOP!!!
the "Southern Crossing" - man what a cross to bear
"A Touch of Classical" - that chick sucked on Mr Belvedere too - they deserved each other, and the premise of this ep - what a classic, classic bad that is!
some of the more annoying eps with Ashley Pfister - :grr: too salty
all those flashback retrospective episodes - theyre ok to watch now, but as a kid who's been waiting all week to see his favorite show, they were a RIP-OFFF!!!
2 cents

lol I know this was posted a loong time ago, but I just wanted to add a little soemthing bout the dancing part: that was probably Henry's idea, since Ive read many times that dancing is one of his favorite activities... I thought he was really pretty good at that russian dance thing, so I guess since Henry wasnt a marvelus singer, maybe he wanted to add some dance scenes to show how good he was
Just an opinion
BTW, one of my least fav eps is "mork from ork" I thought it was kind of annoying:lol:
Cactus Jack 09-21-2003, 11:48 AM My least fav eps are Fonzie moves Out and Fonzie Loves Pinky ( all 4 ) , oh and Fonzie meets John Boy jk LOL , thats not even a real episode

Joe M. Davis 05-16-2013, 12:47 AM I know this is old, but I wanted to throw in my two cents.
* While I didn't totally hate the pre-live audience episodes, they were (for the most part) weaker. Slower pacing, characters still not fleshed out, etc. But production-wise, they're very well-made. Great photography, in particular.
* I'm not a big fan of any of the "anniversary" clip shows. They're all sort of cop-outs, in my opinion. They do have a few decent jokes in between the clips, but when you're getting a string of scenes you've already seen mixed in with footage of the main characters laughing with cheesy grins and very little dialogue (other than "remember when this happened"?), you don't feel like you're getting your full half hour's worth.
* I honestly didn't mind the American musical episode that much, but the Valentines musical episode bored me to tears. During the Howard and Marion segment, they mention how the scene is just like their first date. By then, so many cutaways had been done, I was almost expecting a cutaway within that cutaway to happen.
* The Pinky Tuscadero episodes were pretty boring. Especially part two, where almost the entire show consists of that demolition derby. Constantly cutting away to closeups of characters inside their cars kills the idea of making the scene exciting (if you think cars hitting each other is even exciting), and having little to no humorous lines from anyone doesn't help.
* In retrospect, while I didn't hate the Hollywood episodes, they were also a bit dull. Besides the Fonz jumping the shark, the only thing about the episodes that really stick out for me is that guy that thought he was Jack Benny. Totally random gag, but still hilarious!
* I'm watching the three part Western episode for the first time (yes, I'm an HD newbie), and I have to admit I'm not really getting into it.
* I have yet to see a lot of the post-Richie/Ralph episodes, but I've seen bits and pieces of a handful of them, as well as a few full ones. From what I could tell, the last season (for the most part) was actually pretty decent. And that's not just because Richie and Ralph came back for a couple of episodes. There were actually a few that genuinely felt like classic "Happy Days" episodes.
visaman666 05-18-2013, 03:56 AM I know this is old, but I wanted to throw in my two cents.

Boring? Maybe today in the era of 2 and a Half Men, but back in 1976, when I was 12, the premier episode was THE television event of the season. I had a silly crush on Pinky, watching the promo during the summer, and it was only a shot of her ankles (hmmm... that explains a lot ...)
wayne 05-21-2013, 07:55 PM I hate shows that delete endings that are an important part. especially Westward Ho where Fonzie Ritche and Thunder ride into the sunset. the TV NEVER shows that!
IloveCaskett 06-03-2013, 10:22 PM I also vote for Fonzie Loves Pinky. I also kind of didn't like when they switched Arnolds. ( I don't like change lol!)
wayne 10-29-2013, 05:20 PM One I hate is Fonzie the Father where he makes Ritchie take care of a pregnant mother. I would have said Fonzie sit on it.
my other bad one is the birdhouse where it collapses through the roof . the judge rules for Howard and against Fonzie but the Fonz gets off the hook.
treky 10-29-2013, 05:38 PM m choice is just about any episode from season 2 on when they changed the setting from the 50s to the 70s with a tiny amount of the 50s mixed in every once in a while and added that god-awful live audience.
Race's Girl 10-30-2013, 05:43 PM Anyones with Flip & KC. I'm glad they left

Any musical episode, pre-or-post Richie is best skipped.
Ohio8 11-12-2013, 06:36 PM The final season's "The Spirit Is Willing." An urban legend as the eppie's plot line is really scraping the bottom of the barrel.
wayne 12-24-2013, 09:53 PM I like the Spirit is Willing actually but remember that was all a dream by Fonzie so of course parts of it would not make any sense. I guess I dislike Passages because Potsie and Ralph are not in it.

Dr. Thong 01-02-2014, 11:55 AM Tom Hanks wanting to beat up Fonzie. I was like wtf?
That was a bad episode from a time when the show itself was pretty bad. I forgot that one....or I tried to, anyway.

liked the beginning episodes without the studio audience more American Graffitti like but then again wouldn't of had Laverene and Shirley or Mork and Mindy.

I actually thought that was one of the better ones from that era.
visaman666 01-03-2014, 02:24 AM By that point I was so fed up with the phony Fonziemainia that I cheered every-time Hanks beat up Fonzie. Of course Hanks has to have his ass kicked by the Reverse Mortgage King.

well.... what's your worse episode? ??? I still think making Fonzie into a sap is pretty pathetic ... also like the one where he goes blind and fixes his bike. I liked Fonzie tough not a softie.

Dr. Thong 01-03-2014, 07:02 PM also the studio audience gets on my nerves with the woo's. makes me sick.
You'll notice that in some instances the sustained applause and "whoos" make the actors wait to deliver a line, otherwise it wouldn't be heard above the screaming.

NO QUESTION this was a bad idea for an episode as well as a BAD casting choice for Tom Hanks. The Weird part is, Tom Hanks was ALREADY on Bosom Buddies and many knew him from there. Myself included, I thought to myself "Wow, Tom Hanks must need a paycheck to do this small role and play this crummy character?" However, Tom Hanks must have been pretty good friends with Ron Howard because he did make a movie soon after with him called "Splash" in 1984 so it worked out for Mr. Hanks in the long run which lead to a great career AFTER this episode. We all know Henry and Ron are good friends and Tom must have been in that inner circle.

Bosom Buddies had been cancelled by the time this episode aired and Splash hadn't happened yet, so Hanks was in-between the show and his future big-screen success, so I imagine he was probably happy to get some work.
MikeLutton 01-09-2014, 12:19 AM I don't mean to knock up a old thread my apologies but here is my opinion.
worst episode ever ruined fonzie character for me
fonzies spots last episode tapes for the series where he roger potsie chichi try join howard lepard lodge and make fonzie act so stupid like wtf
just my opinion that is all
Dr. Thong 01-09-2014, 07:26 PM It's pretty clear they were running out of ideas for Fonzie in the later years. And when you run out of fresh ideas, you start doing stuff to the characters you never would have thought of doing before.
But I think the character who suffered the most was Potsie. Without Ralph and Richie, there wasn't much reason for the character to be around. It seemed at times they were coming up with these really off the wall bits just to give Potsie something to do in a show.

should of had fonzie finaly find his mother and reunite with his weird brother we his name was n move in with his own family n adopoted son that would been closure
potsie should of took chichi place in dating joanie that would been more interesting. and we wouldn't of had to suffer and chichi episodes

I AGREE with you 100% It almost seems they said "Hey, let's put Fonzie in a bunny suit and this will get a lot of laughs and people will want to tune in to see it right"?
(NOT!)

Season 11 "Fonzie's Spots" Plot: Howard's position as the Grand Poobah at the Leopard Lodge is threatened when he realizes that he hasn't recruited any new members in the past five years (except for Potsie), so Fonzie, Roger, and Chachi agree to join. They regret their decision when learning that Potsie is the pledge master.
Potsie (with great pleasure) is humiliating Fonz with these stupid sorority pledge dares and making him jump thru hoops to join. What did Fonz ever do to Postie to deserve this? This episode really pissed me off to belittle Fonzie like this was just awful. Talk about taking advantage of a nice guy. Clearly the writers just had nothing left to write about for the show any longer. THIS MIGHT BE THE WORST EPISODE EVER! I am SO SURPRISED they FILMED THIS? Did anyone READ the script before they shot it?
After watching this episode, it was a welcomed relief they ended the show.
