As we know there are so many TV Sitcoms out there but sadly there are some sitcoms that are not being shown in syndication or streaming. Sadly those Sitcoms must be dead. Can you name any Sitcoms that are & will continue to be gone forever and just be a Memory.

Was Brothers, the sitcom that aired on cable from 1984 to 1989 ever syndicated?

Yes, Brothers was syndicated. I lived in Philadelphia in the late 80s/early 90s, and WGBS (channel 57) showed it.

Oh, Okay. I wasn't sure.

I know this sounds odd, but parts of a couple of older sitcoms appear to be dead.

1. The Donna Reed Show

In (mostly) the 60s this sitcom was quite popular. The first five seasons have been issued on DVD season sets, mostly with complete episodes. Seasons 6 and 7 are generally unavailable. The final season, 8, which apparently has always been available in syndication, still is. As far as I know, Weigel Broadcasting still has the rights to all seasons except 6 and 7.

There have always been problems with the rights and ownership. Todon Productions (Tony Owen's and Donna Reed's company) owned the show for the first five seasons, and it was co-produced by Todon and Screen Gems. Reed tired of the grind and wanted out after five seasons, but a deal was worked out, and Todon sold the show to Screen Gems, along with an agreed-upon slightly-reduced season size.

So deals were worked out with the Owen-Reed estate to issue to issue the previously mentioned DVD sets, and possibly syndication deals. Sony syndicates season 8, but, though they appear to own the rights to seasons 6 and 7, these seasons are unavailable. There are some possible reasons for this--one might be that that simply don't have possession of the films.

2. My Three Sons

No complete, unedited home media sets have ever been issued for any seasons of this show. Seasons 1 thru 5 are black and white episodes aired originally on ABC and seasons 6 thru 12 are color episodes originally aired on CBS.

Seasons 1 and 2 were beautifully remastered, obviously from the original network masters. But they changed stock music from the Capitol library--which no other studio did--these music cues were used on virtually all sitcoms from that time period. Seasons 3 thru 5 were issued more recently on DVD, using any masters available, some of them syndication copies.

The color seasons have never been fully issued on home media, and never on DVD. Only seasons 6 thru the first half of 11 have been syndicated in the modern era; that is, mastered to videotape for syndication. I think that this is in reference to sitcoms that as of now, are considered "lost media" (https://lostmediawiki.com/Home#). The term "lost media" (https://www.reddit.com/r/lostmedia/) is basically defined (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_media) as being any media that is believed to have been forgotten or no longer exists in any format. I've heard that there's some speculation as to Bob Crane's deal. At the time of his few appearances in earlier seasons he wouldn't have been under contract yet; therefore, those appearances aren't an issue.

There has to be some issue with Crane, since he appeared in a season 8 episode that was probably held over from season 7. Although season 8 has run on MeTV/Decades/Catchy, that episode is withheld.

Of course Crane is long gone, but the contract may extend to his heirs.

MURPHY. F@%KING. BROWN.

I initially thought it was just its topical humor that made the series bomb on syndicated reruns, but apparently it was music licensing that contributed to Murphy Brown's extinction from syndication and streaming. That is why I feel MB's 2018 revival was so ill-advised.

Safe at Home is a TBS original show I can't find anything past the intro.

Sanchez of Bel Air is a USA Network original that I can't find past the intro and some USA promos for it.

Just the Ten of Us, It's Your Move, Double Trouble, and My Sister Sam used to air on USA back in the early 90s I remember that have just disappeared since. Shows that would be maybe recognized by absolute hardcore TV fans, but most people have forgotten.

Just recently discovered Open All Night where there are a few episodes missing that may never show up for a show that likely ran just once.

At the current time, it seems that my DVD collection of classic TV shows, dramas and sitcoms, is mostly complete. The things that remain on my want list are a few one season sitcoms from the 1960's and 70's, but these shows have slim to none chance to be released. She would show up hours late for work causing costs overruns and as one individual on the production side described it, she had more interest in interior decorating than she did in acting.

The tv western series (Trackdown) has many great stars in each episode...sometimes.Where can one see these wonderful written scripted episodes ? Hope a tv channel will show it.Me tv did for long while.

Angie has been released on DVD by VEI in 2017, while CPO Sharkey was released on DVD by Time-Life (both seasons) and Chico and the Man only had a Television Favorites DVD release.

As for Tim Consindine he gave up acting for photography and being an automotive historian. Most of his pre- My Three Sons acting was for Disney - see "Spin and Marty" which was part of the Mickey Mouse Club. The show might still be available on Disney+

This is not true. Forever Fernwood and Fernwood 2 Night are two different shows. Forever Fernwood is basically a continuation of the Mary Hartman series but without Louise Lasser in the cast. Fernwood/America 2 Night is a spoof/parody of the late night talk shows.

You Tube has a good number of Farmer's Daughter episodes but most of them have been edited, they are probably syndication versions. It might be all that's available but I don't watch junk that's been edited. Complete, unedited shows I will watch.

Does the Incredible World of Ed Norton count? That was supposed to be a pilot of a Honeymooners spinoff that got shelved. It aired as a segment on the Jackie Gleason Show that aired on 1/17/70. The episode of the Jackie Gleason Show that aired on 1/17/70 that is floating via tape traders has an older segment superimposed over the Incredible World of Ed Norton segment. I have this version of this episode and I can tell the older segment ends unnaturally before Jackie does his curtain call. I asked about who has this Incredible World of Ed Norton on this site before and other sites like Steve Hoffman and lost media wiki.

Here is another great example of a show that was supposed to be lost but was somehow miraculously found last week and quickly posted on YouTube.

Johnny Carson and his years on "The Tonight Show" need no introduction. For 30 years (1962-92), he set the standard for late night TV that has yet to be equaled or surpassed since he stepped down in 1992. Today, you can watch his show on YouTube, Antenna TV, or any number of streaming channels like Pluto, Plex, and Tubi. All of these episodes cover the 2nd half of the show's existence when it moved from New York to Los Angeles. The New York episodes barely exist with most of them being foolishly erased by NBC, not realizing that fans would want to see them many years later. I have seen a few of these on YouTube lately and I will post them for you below so you can enjoy them.

One of these episodes contains one of the biggest moments in US TV history: the wedding of Tiny Tim, which was broadcast on Dec. 17, 1969, with one of the other guests being Florence Henderson, just starting her first season as Carol on "The Brady Bunch", where 2 days later the show would air its classic Christmas episode "The Voice Of Christmas" for the first time. So just sit back and enjoy this epic moment in TV history and other great New York moments from "The Tonight Show" because now - here's Johnny!!
