That statement from Steve flipped me out. Like she is a thing. Some role to play, like a job description.

When I was born, the boys around me were basically guaranteed a wife and I would be one of those wives. Now, not so much.

This bugs me and I am not fully sure why.

To be fair, I felt like Polly's dad was trying to train Chip on how to take care of his daughter, like he would be passing the torch to Chip. That bugs me too.

Should it?

Polly's dad was an overbearing jerk; it's hard not to be bugged by him.

Like the old expression of a " man TAKES a wife " . As if he kidnapped her!:D You don't hear that expression anymore , thank God!

And it always bugged me , the wedding term " The Father giving the bride away " . Like a pet that is being re homed !:D

" Here, can you take her please? We are moving to a smaller place and there is no room for her anymore " !

I'm still amazed the very 1st time Polly shows up (as Polly) she is a major character in the decade long series. I wonder if her real life show biz parents pulled stings for her +- ?

I like Polly's laid back demeanor, and she is plays her character well. I wish I were Chip !

Polly does not act as the "look at how pretty I am" typical tv actress, and when she did the one episode Make Over she did excel in a more glamorous look, But alas she returned to the girl next door Polly, to my liking.

Yeah, but showing no regard for people of the past's different circumstances (and people of colour still praising Mugabe just because he was an anti-colonial liberation fighter) is what irritates me since i hate that "not change their views to fit the facts but change the facts to fit their views" that both left and right do.

Ronne had been around, she appeared uncredited sitting in Robbie's classroom in the black & white era of M3S (as you've alluded to, as another character).

More importantly, she had a fairly big role in an episode of Fedderson's Family Affair, airing in the early fall of 1970. I think that more than anything else led to her landing the role of Polly.
