View Full Version : I've Lost Almost All Interest in the Oscars and Most Hollywood Hype
Caroline13 03-10-2024, 08:28 PM I realize this is not the place to talk about this and that's OK....I watched all that Stuff for decades and enjoyed most of them. Now I can care less. I'll hear who got the awards and they may be actors I never heard of.
I do read up on all the actors we've lost and Hollywood was a big part of my life's enjoyment, movies and good tv...
Wonder if anyone here has lost some interest????
Dude111 03-10-2024, 09:07 PM I dont think I have ever had any......

There was a time period when I looked forward to the Oscars and I don't know what happened, I just lost interest in all tv since about 2017 when the cable co messed up my billing stuff..I told t hem to get their box or it goes in t he alley...
LUNCH 03-11-2024, 02:45 PM I lost interest around the very late 1990s. I have always loved good movies,TV shows and music. That is why I do not watch or listen to almost anything made in the 21st century. It may be extreme but to me the modern stuff is almost guaranteed to be junk. I have no idea who todays showbiz people are. I refer to them as showbiz people because those people are not worthy of calling them anything like stars or so on, because there really is no such thing as stars anymore.

Me neither. When I read the famous-people birthdays I stop when you get to the younger ones--I just don't know any of them.
I did know the Oscars were on, but I didn't see them.
Caroline13 03-11-2024, 09:01 PM Just heard a popular commentator on my radio, Steve Gregory, he does a lot of investigative reporting and works in unsolved mysteries, and he said part of his job at the station is to go to the Oscars and he said what a HASSEL and a long messy day and the police force runs over 1000, but it's part of his job, he's been going to them for 22 yrs. He said the food is good..but it s ounded like he would rather NOT go.

I know what happened in my case. Hollywood became woke America haters.
Same with TV.

icecream 03-12-2024, 01:41 AM I lost interest around the very late 1990s. I have always loved good movies,TV shows and music. That is why I do not watch or listen to almost anything made in the 21st century. It may be extreme but to me the modern stuff is almost guaranteed to be junk. While a lot of junk has come in the 21st century largely because of reality becoming popular and mockumentary crap like The Office, you are still missing out on a lot of great TV. Corner Gas, The Middle, the original Leverage, Psych, Monk, Scorpion, Blue Bloods, The American Bible Challenge game show, GSN's version of The Chase, Without a Trace, Switched at Birth, Rizzoli and Isles, Major Crimes, first 13 seasons of Heartland, first 4 seasons of Once Upon a Time, People Puzzler, and Person Place or Thing are some of my favorite 21st century shows. Music does have a lot less on the vocal side (multitudes of oldies 60s and 70s singers better than the most popular ones today like Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, and rappers). But there are still phenomenal current singers like Josh Groban, Laura Bretan, and Andrea Bocelli. As for movies, my all time favorite premiered in 2003: Kelsey Grammer's musical version of A Christmas Carol. A recent Oscar contender that should have won best picture is La La Land, it was even announced as the winner. :p Emma Stone who won for something I haven't seen this year was great in Cruella as well.
Caroline13 03-12-2024, 02:31 PM MOST of the stars from my generation are gone, a few still hanging on like Clint Eastwood, a true treasure. I don't want today's noise. True also with all the great voices who made beautiful music, and some still with us.
Penny Lane 03-12-2024, 03:04 PM How can there be an award for best script writing when the F-Bomb is every other word? What is Oscar worthy about that?
I too have lost all inteerest in the Oscars since the 90's.
Edward216 03-12-2024, 05:42 PM You're not the only one, I think most people have. We're all completely disgusted with Hollywood telling us what's right and what's wrong and having the nerve to tell the general public of America how to live their lives all the time as if all the Hollywood celebrities know better than everybody else! Absolutely despicable!!:mad:
