The third time could be the charm for Atlanta. We need a new arena in Cobb County. We also need a new ownership group besides the ones who own the Hawks. They never wanted to own a hockey team.

I would pick Houston over Salt Lake City. Quebec is probably never going to get another team.

Jim Craig had only a cup of coffee in four games for the Flames.

This was my best memory of Atlanta Thrashers hockey. It's from their first and only playoffs appearance. Hockey can work in Atlanta with a winning team and good ownership group.

Of the two potential Atlanta ownership groups, they both want to build an arena 50 miles out of town- I don’t know Atlanta but that seems like a bad idea - look at the Coyotes and their mess.

Quebec City already has a state of the art arena that they fill every night, all they need is an ownership group that can put up 2B for expansion fee and Bettman to give them a chance

The plan as of now, the Arizona Coyotes will keep the name and logo and franchise history in Arizona, the team in Utah will have a new name (how about Utah Settlers, Utah Searchers). The present owner will have 5 years to secure a site, funding for a new arena and will then be awarded a franchise (he will have to pay an entry fee). I feel sorry for the Utah taxpayers funding another sports arena for a billionaire but that's their problem. The Arizona arena will be privately funded.

The Coyotes situation is a complete mess - like it always has been- things can’t go worse for the “Utah Hockey Club” - the team’s official current name.

I don’t think Muerulo can get his crap together to build a new area and bring back the Coyotes in 5 years, he’s only allowed to sell off something like 30% of the ownership to investors and he really doesn’t seem to know what he’s doing

I think Houston will get a team and Atlanta will probably get another shot, hopefully both at once, but any more after that is probably slim chances

Obviously, I didn't see this thread when it was first started, or if I did, I changed my name to this and made this post. This is exactly what I would have said. There should be no more than 16 teams. I don't give a **** if the south or west has hockey. We don't need to "grow the game". I don't care if "non traditional fans" watch (I'm sure you know what that means) or women watch. We don't need tattooed thugs doin' they goal dances.

Arizona moving increases Atlanta's chances of getting an expansion franchise.

It's sad to see the Coyotes leave Arizona. They just couldn't get a new arena built. They have had some terrible ownership groups like Atlanta.

That's a pretty good return on his investment for Alex Meruelo. I remember he tried to buy the Atlanta Hawks.

Hockey might be back in Arizona if they can ever get a new arena with the right ownership group.

With the growth of hockey in other countries, there's room for a few more teams. It's truly a global game.
