In other words, is it a valid concern of many older soap opera veterans (https://www.datalounge.com/thread/32662571-why-do-people-make-fun-of-soap-opera-actors-and-say-they-re-not-real-actors-) to have difficulty (https://www.reddit.com/r/acting/comments/144eczy/i_just_got_chosen_for_a_recurring_role_in_a_daily/) finding jobs elsewhere (https://www.quora.com/Why-cant-some-soap-opera-actors-graduate-from-being-a-soap-actor-to-a-star-on-a-popular-TV-program-and-then-onto-major-films-Is-it-a-tale-tell-sign-that-they-just-arent-talented-enough) (such as in other soaps, primetime shows, plays, and even movies) when their soaps are cancelled?

This is what Beverlee McKinsey (https://ultimatesoapfan.fandom.com/wiki/Beverlee_McKinsey) once said in an interview with TV Guide (https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/46395-can-being-a-long-time-soap-actor-be-a-burden/%22http://iriswheeler.tripod.com/tvguide19920811.html%22). It seemed like her time on soaps slightly affected her chances (https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/46395-can-being-a-long-time-soap-actor-be-a-burden/) of getting work outside of the genre (https://www.reddit.com/r/Emmerdale/comments/17eerp3/comment/k64eica/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3):
"I don't want to do a soap again. The only thing I'd like to do is a sitcom. Of course, I don't even have an agent! You know what I'm saying? I've worked for so long in daytime with no plans of ever doing anything else. How do you get a sitcom without an agent? How do you get an agent when you haven't had one for 15 years? So, you see, I really have no plans. I just know that I don't want to do Guiding Light anymore. My friend [exec producer] John Conboy says I can get any agent I want, but I don't know that I can. I'm a big deal in daytime but nobody else gives a rat's hip about us soap people (https://www.quora.com/Are-soap-opera-actors-taken-seriously-by-Hollywood)."

Meanwhile, Maurice Benard did an interview (https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/46395-can-being-a-long-time-soap-actor-be-a-burden/%22http://xfinity.comcast.net/blogs/tv/2012/08/21/stars-of-canceled-soaps-reinvent-themselves-in-daytime-primetime-theater-and-blogging/%22) with Michael Fairman back in September 2012 and he had this to say:
"We all know it’s tough, especially when you’ve been on a soap for as long as I have. In terms of trying to break out, nobody really cares about soaps. Within the soap world, it’s the greatest job in the world. But for me, it will be tough unless somebody gives me that break."
