got me wondering if being forced to choose between blindness and deafness, which I’d choose. I think I’d lose more things I enjoy being blind, so I’d have to go with being deaf.

That definitely surprises me. Being there's one particular activity that's been rumored to cause blindness, I figured you'd only have about 10% to go.

I think it would be a little easier overall to be deaf. You could use closed captioning to watch TV and movies. It would be a little more challenging to communicate by reading lips or using sign language.

She is almost totally blind. I suggested she use a screen reader to help her out. She is able to live independently in her own home.

The good news is if you're deaf dumb and blind you can still play a mean pinball.

When a boy is say 12 or 13 or so and the male hormones kick in, what did they used to say in the old days if you did " something" too much you'd go blind? To guilt the poor boys into not doing something .You know " Diddling " !!! Don't fiddle with the diddle !! :lol::D

They couldn't be more complete opposites. opus likes the Islanders. Babalu is a Rangers fan. Maybe they can settle their differences with an old-fashioned hockey fight.

As some know, I have had the experience of having vision problems years ago and my wife says I'm an expert of having "selective hearing!" :D

A friend of mine went deaf as a side effect from chemo after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer relatively young (41).



It's also very different for people who were born without the senses and for those who lose them later.

I remember from when I was in grammar school that the father of a classmate went blind in early adulthood. It was a shock to me when I found out he was blind as he, for lack of a better term, did not "act blind". He did things with no assistance such as walking around on his own with no cane or dog and was able to sit himself down at restaurants. The only giveaway was that he always wore sunglasses, but he did not appear to be blind at first sight.

I guess he knew the layout of the local neighborhood.

A very close person in my life went thru Sudden Hearing Loss SHL in her 40's. all from G.D. hard pain drugs and what other drugs the drug pushing doc had her taking. She had cochlear surgery but when the implant is out she is stone deaf....

I don't detest the drugs too much, do I????

I finely got glasses with computer tinting,
but I do have to see a Retina Specialist every 6-8 weeks. :(
I have renal diabetic nephropathy and sometimes have to get
a shot in my eye(s) to reduce swelling (blood in the eyes) :)

Yikes. I don’t totally understand all those concepts, but that sounds rough :(
